Pita is the Giant Breadbug that appears in Pikmin: Antarctic Survival. Pita is incredibly strong, having a carrying capacity of 30, which exceeds that of most creatures that can be Awakened in Pikmin: Antarctic Survival. He also has high damage resistance due to his thick hide and a lot of durability even if he does take damage. However, Pita can only be encountered in the Chilly Valley once the Diamond Settlement's level reaches at least 3.
Pita is not nearly as active as a typical Breadbug, as he has a tendency to "loaf around" all day, lying around in the Diamond Settlement in a building or just on the ground outside. He does have something of an instinct to hoard items, like most Breadbugs, but he often ignores that instinct in favor of lying around instead. As a result, he does not have much of a hoard to speak of. Pita's inactive lifestyle and general nonchalance result in most others seeing him as lazy and apathetic, a claim that he does not dispute and will in fact often agree with in a sarcastic tone. Though this laziness tends to lead to many other residents becoming annoyed and angry at Pita, he will react by just blowing them off and jokingly stating that their feelings are understandable and he agrees with them.
Pita doesn't tend to take anything seriously, making dry jokes pretty much constantly, including during tense moments where a joke really isn't appropriate. He tends to make a lot of self-deprecating jokes commenting about his laziness and generally unpleasant nature. He also has an incredibly dark sense of humor at times, as he will joke about serious topics and generally not take anyone else's feelings seriously. If called out on this, he will just try to defuse the situation with another joke, saying that he's just joking around and there's no reason to "burn all those extra calories getting angry". Pita's apathy toward everyone can result in a lot of anger and resentment being directed his way, but he doesn't ever seem to care about this at all.
One subject that Pita will not discuss or detail is the topic of his past before he was taken to the Antarctic. If anyone questions him about it, Pita deflects the question, telling them that there's really nothing to discuss, because all he was doing back then was loafing around anyway.
Pita's antisocial behavior stems in large part from experiences from much before he was Awakened in the Antarctic, back when he was in the same Breadbug warren that Rye used to live in before ending up in the Antarctic. As with Rye, Pita had to survive the harsh winter which claimed almost all of the Breadbugs of the group. At a time when all of the other Breadbugs were freaking out and desperately running around looking for food, though, Pita took the complete opposite approach. He was already quite lazy even before the winter, but something about the winter food emergency caused Pita to completely detach from everyone else and spend the whole winter hiding from the other Breadbugs and sleeping the days and nights away. Surprisingly, this actually worked out to Pita's benefit and was the reason he was able to survive the winter. Pita's sluggish behavior meant that he was practically in a state of hibernation, as he wasn't doing much of anything that required energy at all. This, along with the ample amount of energy that he was able to use just by persisting off his own fat reserves, meant that he was able to survive the winter, even though most of the other Breadbugs in the den did not. Pita, upon realizing that he was one of the only Breadbugs to survive even though he was the first one to give up and accept his fate, concluded that this irony proved that his life was a sort of cosmic joke. After deciding this, Pita began to view everything else as a series of jokes as well, seeing the absurdity around him as proof that all existence could be summarized as a comedy routine, and deciding to play along with jokes of his own.
Rye mentions that Pita had a family back in the days of the Breadbug warren, as he had a mate and several juvenile Giant Breadbug children. His former wife is mentioned to have died from some sort of sickness several years before the harsh winter struck the Breadbug warren, and none of his children survived the winter, since there were only a few Breadbugs that survived it at all. At the time of Pikmin: Antarctic Survival, Pita has no surviving relatives. Pita never brings up his family, not even in his jokes, stating that he thinks there are funnier subjects to joke about.
Pita's name is taken from a type of bread, pita bread. He also claims that "Pita" is actually his first name, with his last name being "Griffin." This would make his full name "Pita Griffin", which is seemingly a reference to the character Peter Griffin from the television show Family Guy. However, it is quite possible that Pita is not serious when he makes this claim, as this would be in-line with his sense of humor.

The Giant Breadbug is a breadbug miniboss in Pikmin: Spark. It appears in the Cavern of Cobwebs and at the Fertile Savanna. In the Cavern of Cobwebs specifically, it kidnaps Abel after he crashlands into the cave the first time. It lives in a section of the area, known as Breadbug Basin, surrounded by smaller kin. To rescue Abel, the breadbug can be defeated directly, or its den can be bombed using bomb rocks tossed by Goo Pikmin. The latter method is recommended due to the long distance between the den and Research Pod. Aside from that, the Giant Breadbug is the same as it was in its initial incarnation.
In Ultra-Spicy Mode, the Giant Breadbug becomes faster while pulling items and becomes even faster if it senses its den is destroyed. Additionally, a white powder covers the top of its coarse body.

The Giant Breadbug is a breadbug miniboss in Pikmin: Treacherous Treasures. It is large, being almost triple the size of a typical Breadbug, and is cubical in shape, almost resembling a loaf of bread. It behaves similarly to other breadbugs, dragging corpses, treasures, and pellets to its burrow when it comes across one. Upon dragging a corpse or pellet into its den, a Giant Breadbug has its health replenished to a degree according to the object's size: five, twenty, forty, and seventy percent respectively objects that are or are the size of 1-, 5-, 10-, and 20-pellets. Apart from having more health than its smaller relatives and being able to recover health by taking objects into its den, it also regenerates health at a steady pace. The Giant Breadbug emits oinking noises when looking around, being damaged, or dragging an object.
There are a few, often unconventional, ways to harm a Giant Breadbug. The standard process of damaging any breadbug is waiting until it grabs onto an object and then swarming it with as many Pikmin as possible. Doing this overpowers the creature and causes it to drag behind an object while it is carried to the ship or an Onion. Using double the amount of Pikmin as is needed to carry an object is recommended for this strategy as if not enough are used they will have no bearing on the breadbug and possibly be dragged into the creature's den and killed. When the object is delivered, the Giant Breadbug is brought up with the object and has its body slammed into the craft, taking out about one-tenth of its health.
Should there be no objects around, another way to damage a Giant Breadbug is to pelt it with Purple Pikmin or Rock Pikmin. A Giant Breadbug is difficult to damage with Pikmin directly, as none have any effect except Purple Pikmin pounds on top of it and Rock Pikmin throws anywhere at its body. Its tall stature makes it hard to land a Purple Pikmin on top of it, but each successful hit takes away about one-twentieth of its health. Each Rock Pikmin hit can make it lose its balance, causing it to roll to its side before righting itself, and each hit takes out about one-hundredth of its health.

Three wander about the central chasm of the Loaf Territory, one in each of the three sections that are separated by bramble gates. If a Giant Breadbug walks through a crowd of Pikmin, it may crush a few of them by stepping on them. Defeating one will force it to emit a cry, alerting any nearby Breadbugs to drag its corpse back to the respective den of that Giant Breadbug to resurrect it. Once the Giant Breadbug revives, it rises from its den, behaving normally again.
