Family Amphibiland

The Gildemander is the adult form of the Gildemandwee. It will either wander about or lie in wait until leaders or Pikmin come close, upon which it will waddle toward and attempt to eat them using its large, sticky tongue. There is no limit to the amount of Pikmin the creature can catch in a single attack. When the false gold on its back is knocked off by attacking Pikmin, reattaching it will become the Gildemander's main priority. If knocking a piece off exposed one of the three weakpoints on its back, the Gildemander will be briefly stunned. Pikmin that are not otherwise occupied will automatically begin to attack the loose stones, putting them at risk of being eaten. It will pursue the gold one piece at a time and grab it with its tongue, ensnaring all Pikmin currently attacking the gold as well, and then flip the gold piece onto its back to cover one of its weakpoints, knocking any Pikmin attacking it off. Destroying all three of the Gildemander's weakpoints will kill it. Notably, the Treasure Gauge will not be able to function accurately while a Gildemander is alive.

Glammet is the Gildemander that appears in Pikmin: Antarctic Survival. Glammet is obsessed with treasures, which he calls "baubles", as well as with their sparklium content. The golden chunks on his back are actually made from coagulated sparklium, which he extracts from baubles by licking them with his large tongue and then turns the sparklium into golden chunks. Glammet can be very useful to recruit to the Diamond Settlement, as he is quite powerful and able to carry a lot of weight, as well as being the only resident who can collect and make use of sparklium. However, Glammet can be hard to find, as he randomly wanders the central ruin of the Ruins of Awakening prior to being Awakened, and he is difficult to locate in this labyrinthine area.

After joining the Diamond Settlement as a resident, Glammet begins to collect sparklium from baubles, in an attempt to replace his lost sparklium chunks, which were lost during the fight to Awaken him. In exchange for helping him find Sparklium, Glammet will provide the residents of the Diamond Settlement with gilded bricks and glitter, two unique resources that only Glammet can produce and that provide settlement quality bonuses when used in buildings.

Glammet can detect the presence of baubles by sensing their sparklium content. Glammet can use his glowing antenna as a radar, which can detect the presence of sparklium in the area. This allows Glammet to always be able to tell how many baubles are in any given area, and he shares this information with the other Diamond Settlement residents to help them know where best to look for baubles.

Glammet is the only creature that can extract sparklium from baubles. Glammet can extract sparklium by simply licking a bauble to gather its infused sparklium, but this extraction method is much less efficient than the one used in other Pikmin titles, and as such it only gives about one-tenth of the sparklium that these baubles are worth in those. When he is part of a search party, Glammet will never look for building resources, but will instead attempt to find a bauble instead. This has a varying chance of success, with it being more likely to succeed the more baubles are currently present in the area being explored. When Glammet is not present in a search team, the team will never find baubles, as they can only be found by Glammet.

Interestingly, despite the presence of Glammet as the Gildemander of Pikmin: Antarctic Survival, the creature's younger form, the Gildemandwee, is not present at all in the Antarctic. Glammet mentions on occasion that he would really like to have kids, but he hasn't had any luck finding a mate. This is possibly because of his obsessive nature over the things he likes, which may push others away.

After joining the Diamond Settlement, Glammet almost immediately becomes infatuated with Crystal, as his eyes cartoonishly turn into hearts the first time he sees her. Glammet is constantly trying to get Crystal to notice him and go out with him for bauble hunting or other activities. Glammet thinks that Crystal is so shiny and pretty that she's practically a "living bauble", leading to Glammet constantly complimenting her beauty and following her everywhere. Crystal typically just brushes him off and ignores him, as she doesn't share his feelings toward her, finding Glammet to be weird and eccentric. At times, Crystal is made uncomfortable by Glammet's adoration of her, and she tries to avoid him. Many of the other residents of the Diamond Settlement are also uncomfortable by Glammet's infatuation with Crystal, or uncomfortable with his bauble obsession in general.

At one point, Glammet writes a song for Crystal and then sings it to her, which she finds concerning. The song that Glammet sings is called "Baubles", and it is a parody of the song "Peaches" from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, featuring nearly identical lyrics, such as "Crystal... you're so cool."

Glammet's name is a combination of the words "glamour", meaning an exciting quality that makes something appealing, and the name "Emmett".

Attacks Eats and crushes Pikmin

The Gildemander is a returning species of amphibiland in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature resembles its original incarnation in Pikmin 4. The boss can be found in its arena, sleeping. If provoked to wake up, the Gildemander will awaken and attempt to slurp at the group. After the attack, the boss fight will begin.

The Gildemander is simple in attack, but its attacks are highly lethal. One of its attacks is slurping up Pikmin with its giant tongue. The attack has no limit on the amount of Pikmin it can eat at once, meaning all 100 can be eaten if not careful. Another attack of the Gildemander is slowly rolling to its side and dumping all of its gold onto a group of Pikmin, crushing them all. The Gildemander will then slurp up all of its gold to put on its back. The best way to attack the Gildemander is to charge the beast's side. If the Gildemander can not perform its rolling attack in time, all the Pikmin will do enough damage to the side to scatter the gold all over the arena. Weighted Pikmin and Purple Pikmin can easily knock the gold off. The Pikmin can then break each chunk so the Gildemander can not regain its armor. If done correctly, three glassy, red orbs will be revealed on its back if all gold is gone. This is where actual damage can be done to the boss. Iguana Pikmin can attack the orbs from afar, while Rock Pikmin do extra damage. For each third of health removed, one glass orb breaks. Once all orbs are broken, the creature will be defeated. Defeating a Gildemander for the first time will grant the "Is it Salamander? Fish? Iguana?" achievement.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This strange creature seems to possess coagulated body fluids on its back. This condensed material seems to confuse the treasure gauge into thinking it is some sort of treasure. Along with this, the Gildemander possesses the ability to emit electromagnetic waves from its antenna which confuses Pikmin into thinking it is a leader, similar to an Antenna Beetle. However, the beast is not as smart as an Antenna Beetle, so they can not command the Pikmin, preferring to eat them instead.

Louie's notes

This beast's meat is very nutritional and tasty; cook this salamander until golden brown and cover in a honey garlic glazing.

President’s notes

This giant beast can produce false gold! I bet people would be willing to buy this stuff if they actually didn't know what it is...

Overlord’s thoughts

It's rare to see these creatures, especially with their seemingly natural false gold. That’s why it pained me when that Hocotation Olimar and his fat, greedy boss came and slaughtered my child... They probably thought it was treasure. That boss is ravaging my beautiful ecosystem for a quick buck.

The Gildemander is a boss in Pikmin: Festival of Music. Because of its status as a boss creature, it can not be bought or sold, but instead earned from a battle quest. The Gildemander bounces fool's gold on its back. While it does have moves, this creature cannot be used in battle, due to it being a boss enemy. The Gildemander is separate from the Gildemandwee skin for Shearflea.
