The Ceiling Slurker is an enemy in Pikmin X: Deep Freeze that is very similar in appearance to the Medusal Slurker. However, this creature is anchored to surfaces above the ground and can not move from its position. When Pikmin approach, it will lower its uvula and start absorbing any beneath it, after which they are quickly digested. If the Pikmin were carrying an object during this time, the Ceiling Slurker will swallow it as well and keep it stored inside its body until it dies; it can not swallow more than one object at a time, but it can continue to attack Pikmin regardless. Often, this creature hangs too high for most non-Winged Pikmin to reach, so a quick way to take it out is to have a Pikmin place a bomb rock below it. The Ceiling Slurker will eat the bomb rock and will be killed by the ensuing explosion almost immediately.

Watch out for that Slurker on the cave ceiling! – The ship, upon discovering the Ceiling Slurker

The Ceiling Slurker is an enemy in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The Slurker resembles a large, flat mass of light blue slime with dark blue dots that lies mouth-open on the ceilings of caves. It has two eyes with yellow sclera and black pupils, along with two dark blue, bi-clawed arms. A long, goopy, uvula-shaped tongue dangles out of the Slurker’s mouth.

The Ceiling Slurker will lie dormant on the ceiling of caves. When they spot Pikmin below them, they will suddenly drop their goopy tongue right into the group. This will trap any Pikmin, objects, or treasures that are caught in the tongue. The tongue will then retract back up to the Slurker, and any Pikmin caught in the beast will be digested and perish after thirty seconds. Objects will remain in the Slurker until it’s killed. If enough Pikmin latch onto a Ceiling Slurker, it will fall from the cave roof and slam into the ground, causing it to perish on impact.

A Ceiling Slurker can be taken out in many ways. Yellow Pikmin and Winged Pikmin can reach the height where the Slurker is located. Weighted Pikmin cannot be grabbed by the Slurker, like most umbloda species. If a Bomb Pikmin is absorbed and digested, the creature will fall off after the explosion and die. Lastly, throwing Dart Pikmin at the Slurker can also work due to their range.

In Overlord mode, the Ceiling Slurker can move on the cave ceiling to change its placement.

Olimar's notes

The Ceiling Slurker is quite the tricky predator. They have evolved to shrivel their mass into a large proportion in cave ceilings, from which they will use their hawk-like eyesight to spot prey and drop their goopy tongue onto the target. The tongue of this beast is very strong; it can carry most heavy objects and prey and reel them back into its stomach. The arms seem to be a vestigial remnant of the species.

Louie's notes

The best way to fish for other yummy snacks. Just drop your Slurker cast and reel them back up when you’re done.

President’s notes

This guy is clever! Maybe I’ll put my riches below these guys, and they can keep them safe from any thieves or debt collectors! Well, same thing.

Overlord’s thoughts

Whenever I’m done with dinner, I throw my scraps under these guys. They seem to enjoy reeling them back up. It’s kind of entertaining, actually.
