Flukeweeds are plants that appear as curly pink sprouts and serve as obstacles. Most Pikmin types can not interact with them, but Winged Pikmin will try to uproot them, often revealing something like a pellet, some sheargrubs, a fruit, or even an Onion attached to their roots. When holding on, the Pikmin tug together at regular intervals, but if they are insufficient, this action will do nothing to the plant. If there are enough Pikmin on it, however, each tug will gradually weaken it, to the point at which point the plant pops out of the ground, drops its content, and then disappears. Generally, Flukeweeds concealing more valuable items need more Winged Pikmin to uproot. Flukeweeds sometimes grow on objects, and instead of pulling them out, Winged Pikmin use them to lift the object they are connected to and move it out of the way.

Flukeweeds are coiled fern-like plants that can be pulled from the ground in Pikmin 5. 5 Winged Pikmin are needed to lift a single Flukeweed, but 10 can be used for increased speed. When pulled out, the Flukeweed does not disintegrate, unlike in Pikmin 3, and can instead be brought to an Onion for 5 seeds; whatever it drops detaches when plucked as well.

Flukeweeds are a returning obstacle in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The small plants can be found above ground or underground in most types of environments. They cannot be attacked or pulled by most Pikmin. However, Winged Pikmin can pull on the weed, doing damage to it as they pull on it. If pulled hard enough, the flukeweed will pop out of the ground. Numerous things can be found attached to the creature, including pellets, treasures, or even enemies like smaller Sheargrubs. The Pink Onion can be found buried underneath with a Flukeweed attached to it.

In Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers, the Flukeweed gains more versatile use, with some objects being bound to their roots. There are some bull skulls in Marrow Mines that the Winged Pikmin can lift up by the Flukeweeds growing on it, but only temporarily. These Winged Pikmin can only be whistled if there are no leaders or Pikmin under the skulls.

- “These spiraling plants reproduce via spores, just like their relative, the Fiddlehead. Flukeweeds have incredibly brittle roots, which means they cannot stay secured in the ground unless they are anchored to a larger subterranean object. Due to this, plucking them very much often reveals surprising finds, including certain tubers. This has led some amateur scientists to incorrectly assume that the Flukeweed is the flowering stem of a larger plant.”
