The Crimson Candypop Bud is a red-petaled candypop bud that behaves just like any other candypop bud but changes Pikmin thrown into them into Red Pikmin. Red Pikmin that are thrown in are reverted to the leaf stage and don't count against the five-Pikmin limit per candypop bud.

Notes

Olimar's observations

This flower has the unique ability to turn any Pikmin that enters it into a Red Pikmin I didn't see them very often on my previous trips, but they do seem somewhat more plentiful this time. That's a good thing since Red Pikmin are a lot more important this time around. For example, this trip is the first time I saw gates protected by a wall of flames. I'll need all the Red Pikmin I can get to take them down.

This spicy flower combusts upon contact with the tongue. Keep fire-retardant condiments within arm's reach.

Pikmin produced 10 Red Pikmin

In Pikmin V, Crimson Candypop Buds return with a few changes made to all Candypop Buds: they can convert 10 Pikmin before wilting, and Red Pikmin thrown into the flower will not be reverted to the leaf stage. Candypop Buds are also revealed to be a stage of Pikmin evolution that occurs immediately before the Onion.

Notes

Brittany's notes

Red Pikmin appear to be the most common variety, as they are always the first ones we encounter. Their increased attack power courtesy of their nose does give them an advantage in driving off predators. I wonder how this evolution coincided with their flame retardance, and why other Pikmin haven't followed suit. Were their noses originally used in a more volcanic environment to break apart igneous rocks, or something of that nature?

Olimar's notes

This flower transforms any type of Pikmin thrown into it into Red Pikmin. Reds are useful in a lot of situations, so you should really have enough of them that using this flower is unneeded. It can be used in a pinch, though.

Louie's notes

A three-alarm spice all by itself. Ground up, it makes an excellent curry base, though you'd better be ready for the heat it packs.

In Pikmin: Attack of the Breadbugs, Crimson Candypop Buds can be found in the Land of Wonders, in the Inferno Territory. Three of them form a triangle shape on a small ashy island connected to the mainland by a small path. Each Crimson Candypop Bud converts ten Pikmin of any color into Red Pikmin before quickly wilting and disappearing. They regenerate every three days.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Candypop Buds are flowers that belong to the same class of other plants that exert animal-like attributes, like sinew and muscle. The Candypop Buds in particular are unique in that they convert Pikmin thrown inside of them to Pikmin of their colors. In this case, Red Pikmin are the end result. This is a beneficial trait for when fire is present.

Louie's notes

Horribly spicy, even a slight peel off of their petal equates to a ghost pepper in terms of pungency. Only the most daring and resistant can eat this plant.

Pikmin produced 5 Red Pikmin

The Crimson Candypop is a candypop that appears in Pikmin: Wide World. They are found only on dry land. Up to five Pikmin, with a few exceptions, can be thrown into, knocked off into, or otherwise end up in, a Crimson Candypop to transform them into Red Pikmin. Once this limit is reached, the candypop closes up and remains unusable for a few in-game days. All eight main Pikmin types, and all ten types of juvenile parasitic Pikmin hosts, can be transformed into Red Pikmin. Red Pikmin, when thrown into a Crimson Candypop, will be ejected as a seed with its maturity at the leaf stage and not be counted as one of the five Pikmin the candypop can transform before it closes up. Mushroom Pikmin can be transformed using a Crimson Candypop, which will also cleanse them of their affliction. Alien Pikmin, although they cannot be thrown due to their thorny stems, may also be turned into Red Pikmin using a Crimson Candypop if they end up in one. Leaders and Captmin cannot be transformed, and when such is attempted, the candypop will forcibly throw them off of itself. Adult parasitic Pikmin hosts are far too large to be transformed into Red Pikmin, and should one somehow be inside of a Crimson Candypop, the candypop will throw them off of itself in much the same way. Crimson Candypops are initially closed until any Pikmin type, even Captmin, is in their presence, causing them to open up to allow their use. When Pikmin leave their presence, they close up again.

Crimson Candypops are large, vibrant, red flowers. They each have five large petals with a white line down the middle of them and a bulbous white formation at each petal's tip, a green cup in their center, and visible leaves and roots at their bases.

Through a variety of means, a Crimson Candypop can be harmed and eventually destroyed, which will cause it to disappear. Only dead leaves and roots will remain, and its death will significantly extend the period of time before it can be used again. A Crimson Candypop will look increasingly more damaged the more harm is done to it. Upon destruction, a Crimson Candypop will quickly wilt and then disappear, emitting a sorrowful tone in the process. Crimson Candypops can be harmed and eventually killed in a variety of ways, such as by throwing foreign objects, such as rocks, into them, exposing them to certain attacks from creatures, or exposing them to most hazards or most types of bomb rock explosions. Notably, Crimson Candypops, much like the Pikmin they eject, are resistant to fire, rendering them invulnerable to even ultra-hot spray, incendiary bomb rock explosions, and ignited wickweed. However, a Crimson Candypop will still die if an incendiary bomb rock is thrown into it. Any Pikmin thrown into a Crimson Candypop that had not yet been ejected before the candypop's death will be killed along with it.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The red petals of the crimson candypop are fire-retardant, much like the Pikmin it ejects. Because of this, it can survive direct exposure to intense flames, and in fact, thrives in high temperatures.

Shacho's notes

These plants could be used to make beautiful bouquets! I'm sure Dorris would appreciate me bringing her one.

Marie's notes

I... don't have anything to say about this. But I must ask: does it get any nutrients from Pikmin it converts and does converting Pikmin make it happy?

Louie's notes

This plant's spicy petals are highly sought after by those who like a little heat. They do spoil quickly after being picked, however, so they must be eaten almost immediately after harvest.

Dolphin Lander's notes

What beautiful scarlet petals this flower boasts! The manner in which it opens when Pikmin are nearby is so elegant...
