The Wintry Warzone, also known by Yuki's name for it, “Boom-Boom Base”, is the seventh area in Pikmin: Antarctic Survival. This area is considered one of the most dangerous in the Antarctic, being covered in landmines and Trackonators, and home to many of the ecosystem's most hazardous creatures such as Groinks and Dirigibugs. It is also the best area in the Antarctic to find bomb rocks.

This area's creatures are very powerful, with creatures such as the Man-at-Legs and the Bloomcap Bloyster residing here. Even more perilous than the creature encounters, though, are the large quantity of primed explosives that have been scattered throughout the area by its tyrant, the Mad Bomber. These explosives are active and proximity-based and will detonate on any creatures that accidentally wander too close, causing heavy damage and often proving fatal. Some of the explosives here are even buried partially in the snow, making them nearly unnoticeable until it is too late. Extreme caution is recommended for any creatures that plan on visiting this area.

Layout

The Wintry Warzone is a snowy and rocky region with sharp stone formations jutting out from the landscape. Much of the snow and rock of the region is covered in ash and soot, as remnants and scars of the multitude of explosions that happen in the area on a daily basis. These frequent explosions have also left huge holes spread all across the landscape, and led to the crumbling of many of the area's larger rocks.

Plantlife is rare in the Wintry Warzone, even compared to other areas of the Antarctic. Red mushrooms are more common here, being found all throughout the area, especially around cave entrances. These mushrooms are uniquely unaffected by explosions, as their rubbery caps are able to absorb the shock of the impact. These mushrooms are toxic to most creatures but contain a variety of nutrients and vitamins that are beneficial to the few creatures that can safely consume them.

Much of the Wintry Warzone's terrain is also quite sandy, especially one central area deep in the region where the Sandbelching Meerslug often roams. This area is covered in large amounts of sand and large rock structures, and, of course, lined with a multitude of explosives.
