Green Pikmin appear in Back to Pikmin as one of the five encountered Pikmin types. They are experienced with surviving in the wild and so can survive if left behind after sunset due to their green skin pigmentating, which allows them to blend in with nature. Green Pikmin are also more effective against plant-based enemies such as the Creeping Chrysanthemum and are more effective when carrying natural treasures such as the Science Project and Arboreal Frippery.

Green Pikmin, also known as Whip Pikmin, are a Pikmin species appearing Pikmin 2... Again?. They are the second Pikmin type discovered, found from Jade Candypop Buds, their only source, which are only found in caves, this first encounter being in the Underground Greengarden. They are green Pikmin with a stem twice as long as those of other Pikmin, and blue petals. The stem of a Green Pikmin is so strong that, in numbers, Green Pikmin can pull moveable objects and potted plants, the latter of which to break. Additionally, Green Pikmin can hit enemies from afar, delivering average damage most times but occasionally a critical hit that deals double damage, identified by a darker impact effect. The drawback of this increased attack range is that Green Pikmin can easily attract the attention of creatures they hit while idle; one example is a Red Bulborb, which a Green Pikmin may wake up if one is near, but not close enough for other Pikmin to attack. Green Pikmin also have a low hit rate due to the length of the stems, but have a high digging speed rivaling that of Yellow Pikmin and Rock Pikmin and surpassed only by Claw Pikmin. Rather than have a resistance to hazards, Green Pikmin are uniquely resistant to obstacles, namely dangerous vegetation. Green Pikmin are the only Pikmin able to combat, repel, or even use dangerous vegetation, and are three times more effective against all vegetation, including Pellet Posies and Burgeoning Spiderworts, but also members of the chrysanthemum family and bloombug family. Strangely, despite their floral appearances, members of the serpentunia family have no weakness to Green Pikmin.

Green Pikmin were one of the first new Pikmin made for Pikmin 2... Again?, with Brown Pikmin preceding it.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Green Pikmin / Pikmin family / Pikminidae florinci. Their most distinct trait is their long stems. They can hit targets from quite a distance away and pull objects towards them with their strong stems. While this is amazing, they attack at a slower pace than other Pikmin because of the sheer length of their stems. However, they seem to hit harder than normal sometimes. Their most interesting feature by far is that they seem to be covered by some sort of substance that weakens or repels plants. They make notably quick work of plants and can take on some no other type can. Just as in the case of the Brown Pikmin, I didn't have many ideas of names, so I named them after their color.

Louie's notes

Something tells me it would taste like when I tried to eat an immature pikpik carrot...

Unknown commenter's comments

This one sounds fun. It can pull stuff with its extendable stem. Apparently, it also attacks at a slower rate. Hm... Makes sense considering it has such a long stem Imagine whipping that around like they do.

Notes

Tike's notes

What a strong Pikmin! The spikes on their head signify they are deadly. They can really pack a punch. Plus, they make construction much easier and faster. I could use them for physical work but they don't seem to have any resistances or any other strengths.

Alice's notes

They are much more aggressive than most Pikmin and are buff as well. I better make sure I don't make them angry. Captain Pikmin seems to look a bit frightened by them... Maybe we found the wrong kind at the wrong time?

Captain Pikmin's notes

I wish my wife was by my side whenever these Pikmin give me such a death stare. She would easily slap them, but without her by my side maybe I should not dare. They are quite strong indeed. In fact, some are even stronger than me.

Originally, Green Pikmin were going to be called Acid Pikmin. They would've resisted acid and had slimy lime-colored bodies. Unlike their current design, they were supposed to have two spring legs instead of one.

Green Pikmin are a species of Pikmin in Pikmin S that are capable of tunneling into the ground, through cracked dirt, sand, or gravel. Green Pikmin have vertical slit pupils and a tail, both being their defining aesthetics besides their green skin. With their ability, Green Pikmin can create pathways to otherwise unreachable locations. To do so, they must be thrown at a surface they can penetrate, and after some moments, automatically start digging or drilling, depending on the hardness of the material.

Due to the game's releasing platform, these Pikmin, as well as any other, are rendered at a low quality, even appearing as simple lines at a distance.

Green Pikmin are made almost exclusively of sludgy algae that is sticky and somewhat amorphous, allowing them to cling to most slippery surfaces and, strangely enough, not stick or only stick when they so choose, to a sticky surface. They have a brown leaf on their stem, but it can grow to become a wilted flower. They have yellowish eyes. Green Pikmin do minor damage and slow enemies. When they exclusively are carrying something, they fuse together and their carrying capacity increases. By holding a single Green Pikmin, up to ten of them can be thrown at once due to them fusing. They are thrown like a track and field hammer when fused, and deal damage upon contact with an enemy in this state. They are found first in the Salem Swamp, housed by the Green Onion, which, like the Pikmin it houses, fuses with other Onions.

Green Pikmin are covered in spikes that deter enemies from eating them. They resemble a Purple Pikmin in shape and size but resemble a cactus in coloration. They cannot be thrown without harming the leader that threw them.
