The S.S. Dolphin is a delivery spaceship belonging to Captain Olimar. It is wrecked when it collides with a comet during a flight on a vacation, scattering thirty of its pieces around PNF-404, but Olimar manages to repair it completely with the help of the Pikmin. When Olimar returns to Hocotate afterward, the S.S. Dolphin is immediately sold to help pay Hocotate Freight's enormous debt and is not seen again.

The S.S. Dolphin appears in Pikmin Eco. It is retired from being Captain Olimar's spaceship and is instead used as Steven's personal artificial intelligence system companion. Throughout the story, it comments on the environment and gives useful tips to help the leaders progress.

In Pikmin: Attack of the Breadbugs, the S.S. Dolphin was bought back from the Hocotate government by Captain Olimar. It is used to travel to different territories of the Land of Wonders, and different chambers of Dangerous Depths, excluding the Loaf Chamber, which must be approached by foot. While standing in front of the ship, Olimar can heal himself, and view the total amount of Pikmin he has.
