A freezer is an obstacle mounted to walls, releasing cold air that chills anything except cold-resistant Pikmin passing in front of it. They usually resemble air conditioners, may release cold air constantly or intermittently, and can often be dealt with by either destroying them or depriving them of power.

Freezer 1.0 is a obstacle in Pikmin 2... Again?. Resembling cyan air conditioners, they periodically blow cold air that freezes all Pikmin except Ice Pikmin. They are usually attached to walls or ceilings or even the ground. They can be destroyed if enough damage is dealt.

Freezers are a new obstacle in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. Although they are not actually freezers, they resemble air conditioners. Freezers can be found attached to walls, mainly those of caves. Freezers remain inactive before emitting a large gust of air for a few seconds. It will then stop, and then repeat the process constantly. The icy air the freezer blows out will freeze any Pikmin types except Ice Pikmin. Unlike most obstacles, which can be destroyed, the freezer can not. The only way to deal with a freezer is simply to move past it when it’s not blowing cold air.
