An electrical wire is an obstacle appearing as a pair of severed wires protruding from the ground. At regular intervals, an arc of electricity spans from one wire to its pair. Attacking either of the wires until they are destroyed will prevent them from generating sparks or an electric current.

Below this point is where users place their version of electrical wires.

In Pikmin V, exposed wires appear as complete wires stripped of the protective coating that run across their passageways. The wire is now indestructible, and the only way to deactivate it and allow passage is to find a valve to shut off the electricity.

Electrical wires are a returning obstacle in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The severed wires resemble their Pikmin 2 incarnation. The wires begin to flicker with volts before suddenly creating a large electrical arc, before suddenly stopping to repeat the process a few seconds later. Pikmin that touch this wire will be shocked and possibly killed if not whistled. The only Pikmin type that can attack and disable these wires are Yellow Pikmin due to their electrical immunity.

Electrical wires appear in Pikmin: Infection in Progress, mainly at Fungal Grotto and the Overrun Laboratory within. Individual electrical wires can protrude from any surface and either one in a pair may be active or inactive. If one electrical wire in a pair is active and the other is not, the active one will still occasionally spark, remaining a threat. This obstacle is best eliminated by Yellow Pikmin because of their resistance to electricity.
