The Translucent Wollywog is a miniboss found at the bottom of the Hostile Aquifer. The large arena that this huge cave-dwelling amphituber nests in is filled with shallow water and surrounded by spike-covered walls that stun Pikmin and leaders that touch them.
The Translucent Wollywog does not jump around very much, as it prefers to slowly crawl around the arena to try and crush them with its bulk; nevertheless, the creature will be prompted to leap to another part of the arena if attacked, creating a circular wave of water upon landing which will sweep Pikmin and leaders away from it and leave them vulnerable for a moment. These big splashes can also shove Pikmin into the spiked walls.
The Translucent Wollywog's other primary attack is to lay clumps of eggs which quickly hatch into Hungry Wogpoles, voracious tadpoles which will immediately start swimming towards Pikmin. However, the weak Hungry Wogpoles are only good at swimming straight forward and will often crash into the spiked walls and die instantly. The miniboss will only lay a few eggs at a time.
Once defeated, the Translucent Wollywog falls over onto its back and spits out whatever treasure it had previously ingested.

The Ghost Wollywog appears in Pikmin: Wide World as a larger member of the amphituber family that can only be found in Mycelial Sepulcher's caves. Its younger counterpart is the Young Ghost Wollywog and its wogpole counterpart is the Ghost Wogpole. The Ghost Wollywog inhabits PNF-404's deepest, darkest caverns, and so they are very rare creatures. They can be found sitting idly in absolute darkness, either on dry land or in shallow water, and are commonly found in the presence of Young Ghost Wollywogs and Ghost Wogpoles. A Ghost Wollywog will turn in place to face leaders and Pikmin it detects approaching it, sometimes sitting up to get a better look at them, and if they get any closer, the Ghost Wollywog will attempt to jump on them to crush them with its body weight. Unlike most other amphitubers, Ghost Wollywogs do not inflate their throats to float in the air, instead preferring to crush their prey as soon as possible. Ghost Wollywogs are dangerous not only because they can crush more Pikmin due to their increased body size but because they can also eat Pikmin; Pikmin that are in front of a Ghost Wollywog can be licked by the creature and become stuck on its tongue and be eaten. Leaders can also suffer this fate, but the creature will spit them out, alongside any Pikmin in its mouth, after a few seconds. Ghost Wollywogs may also make short hops or walk normally instead of making full jumps. If one is led too far away from their initial position, it will return there as soon as possible. Ghost Wollywogs do not birth Ghost Wogpoles, but they can create waves in any body of water they are in, which is not unique to them. Ghost Wollywogs can also be coaxed into crushing smaller enemies, even their own offspring.
Ghost Wollywogs are larger amphitubers that, as their name implies, have see-through skin that allows their organs and entire nervous system to be seen. They are almost three times the size of an ordinary wollywog, and the rump of a Ghost Wollywog is much larger than its head. It has orange feet and beady orange eyes. The creature's sticky, pink tongue constantly hangs out of its mouth, giving it a rather deceitfully playful and silly appearance.
Any color of Pikmin may be used to defeat a Ghost Wollywog, but the use of Blue Pikmin may be necessary if the creature can't be lured out of water. Adult wollywogs of any kind should never be swarmed and should have Pikmin thrown onto them instead. Pikmin can be thrown onto any part of its body, but throwing Pikmin onto its rump as if it were a bulborb is preferred because of its ability to eat Pikmin. Ghost Wollywogs can also be snuck up on from behind, much like with a Yellow Wollywog, for a surprise attack. This can be difficult in a body of water, however, because of the Ghost Wogpoles often swimming around it. The ripples produced by movement in water will also give away the positions of leaders and Pikmin walking through it. Ghost Wollywogs can be tricky to take down because they have a large health pool and because any Pikmin that are latched onto it are thrown off of it when it lands.

Its internal parts, including its brain, muscles, and intestines, are clearly visible as a result. Although it would seem more vulnerable due to its extremely thin skin, the ghost wollywog is indeed more than capable of holding its own and defending its young.”

- “Ghost wollywogs may look nice and playful, but they're actually pretty aggressive. It takes a ton of effort to change its mind about crushing or eating anything walking up to it. When you finally charm one, they're sweet creatures that love showing their affection through licking. Their tongue and saliva are very sticky, and there's a chance that you could get pulled into its mouth. Aside from that, they're very jiggly creatures and will prefer walking to jumping once tamed.”
