The Long Water Dumple resembles a Water Dumple, but much larger and longer and with a distinct fin at the back, making it resemble an eel.
The Long Water Dumple is a fully aquatic grub-dog that resembles an eel mixed with a Water Dumple and is fought underwater, in a cave. It initially swims away from Pikmin and leaders to gain distance from them before turning around, swimming up to them, and then executing its main attack: lunging forward in an attempt to eat them. When sufficiently threatened, the Long Water Dumple may also scrape itself against walls to make boulders fall, spit volleys of rocks between locking on and lunging, and cause boulders to fall while lunging.

The boss starts its assault by swimming away from leaders and their Pikmin before it swims up to them. Eventually, it decides to lunge forward in an attempt to eat Pikmin or a leader. When the lunge is dodged and the creature swims past the group, it can be damaged, and if Pikmin are latching on to it, it will continue taking damage. The Long Water Dumple will eventually spin and knock off all Pikmin latched onto it. If it hasn't taken enough damage to advance to the next phase, it will repeat the process.

When its health reaches two-thirds, it will swim away to violently scrape against a wall midway through returning, causing boulders to fall from the cave ceiling. A Pikmin touches one won't die, but it will be knocked away and become temporarily stunned. Leaders that touch them will take damage and be knocked back, but the boulder still won't break upon impact with them. After the boulders cease falling, the Long Water Dumple will return to the leaders and their Pikmin and enter the standard cycle, except there's an extra attack between the lock-on and the lunge: it will spit out two volleys of two rocks each, with one rock angled a bit up and the other a bit down. These rocks have the exact same effects as the boulders.
The King Water Dumple is a species of fully-aquatic grub-dog boss returning in Pikmin 2... Again?. It resembles its hp incarnation, being a eel-like Water Dumple, being purple, with yellow spots, a mouth with lots of sharp teeths, is even larger, a tail, with two eye stalks ending in a pink glow like of a anglefish, and lots pink "hairs". The King Water Dumple appears in the final sublevel of the Deep Aquarium, then returning in the Final Challenge. At first, a Wogpole will be seen on that final sublevel, playing the boss theme as a joke boss. However, when it passes by a hole, the King Water Dumple comes out of it eating the Wogpole. The King Water Dumple moves through the mant holes, it may also stop, it may or emit electricity around it, spew a poison bubble, or charge at a high speed eating caught Pikmin. It'll then stop to rest, which it can be attacked.

When its health drops to the last third, the Long Water Dumple will once again swim away, rub against the wall, and cause boulders to fall down. This phase is identical to the previous one, except it spits three rocks inside of two, with the extra one going straight forward, and every lunge causes some more boulders to appear.
The King Water Dumple is currently one of the only enemies to originate from Hey! Pikmin to not to be used to be added to Pikmin 2... Again?, the other one being the Flatterchuck.

The Long Water Dumple returns as a boss in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It physically looks as it does in Hey! Pikmin. It appears as the boss of Angler Underworld in Creature's Quay. It's located in some water, with the Research Pod and escape geyser being on an island in the middle. Many Water Dumples live alongside the Long Water Dumple. When the leaders step inside with Blue Pikmin, the Long Water Dumple will attack. It will try to charge at the squad with its mouth open to eat Pikmin, and can also spit out boulders that bounce across the seafloor and break upon hitting the walls. When its health gets to a specific point, it will slam into the walls of its arena, causing boulders to fall from the ceiling and into the water. The falling boulders will not hit the island, as there is no ceiling above it.

In its rematch during Gladiator's Gulch, hydrothermal vents will be in its arena, and more boulders will fall from the ceiling.

Notes

Olimar's notes

A species of grub-dog that deviates from its semiaquatic lineage and became fully benthic. Capable of living in the extreme depths of the ocean, it occasionally surfaces to the higher zones of the ocean when food in its typical prowling grounds becomes scarce. It has significant tolerance to the saline level of water, so it can even flee to brackish estuaries if needed. It can even scour freshwater lakes should the time come to it, often ravaging the local ecosystem as a result.

Louie's notes

The eyestalks taste delicious when roasted in oyster sauce. It's a shame they lose their glow when severed, however.

Ship's comments

Seeing this beast lurk through the below-freezing, inky black waters of the deep makes my steel grow cold. Imagine falling in with it! Forget submechanophobia, I have, "subzoologophobia" for lack of a better term. Bleh!
