The Arachnode is an awrapnid that, resembles a cocoon while dormant on its web but reveals its true form once a Pikmin or leader gets caught in the web; it uncurls its legs and wanders up to its prey, consuming them quickly once it has reached them. It may also wander around the web freely in order to avoid Pikmin that are being thrown at it.

Attacks Eats Pikmin

Arachnodes are a returning enemy in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The spider tends to stay in its web, which is usually in the paths that Winged Pikmin take. Pikmin caught in the web will be eaten by the spider if not rescued. However, throwing a fire starter will burn the web and cause the spider to fall down. On the ground, it will attempt to either run away or eat Pikmin, although it’s at an extreme disadvantage either way. The Arachnode can also be knocked out of its nest by a thrown Rock Pikmin. Iguana Pikmin can attack these creatures from afar, but their tongues may get stuck in the web; being unable to attack. Fur Pikmin can easily climb along webs to attack the Arachnode. A single Weighted Pikmin will instantly destroy the web and weigh down the spider.
