The Yellow Spectralid is a small butterfly-like creature that often flutters about in the air but can land on the ground or perch on objects or enemies. They yield a drop of nectar when killed.

In Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers, the Yellow Spectralid acts the same as its Pikmin 3 incarnation. As with their white and red counterparts, active bulborbs may chase them if the Pikmin or captains wake them up while a Yellow Spectralid is resting on them.

- “Unlike the White Spectralid, the Yellow Spedtralid shows an apparent pickiness with crystallized nectar, and only consumes it in liquid form. Exactly why is commonly debated on. Some scientist believe that the Yellow Spectralid can not process solid food, while others believe that White Spectralids lack a proper liquid transferring orifice and must get their hydrarion and nutrients from pellets, and vice versa.”

- “The exact opposite of the White Spectralid; its wings hold all the flavor, while its body, and especially intestines, taste bitter and are inedible. Deep fry the wings in batter for that satisfying crunch. I call wings prepared this way, "Spectralid fritters" and they can be broken up for use in stews.”
