The Spiny Coppeller is a species of scarpanid in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature resembles its original incarnation in Hey! Pikmin, although it may have different colored leaves that it uses for flight. The coppeller will fly around in a predetermined path; whether singular or in groups of up to ten. No Pikmin can attack a Coppeller, as they will be damaged and killed from their spikes, so the best one can do is to avoid it. Occasionally, they can be found holding bomb rocks, which they will prime and drop on Pikmin.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “Unlike most Coppellers, this species has developed a large layer of spikes over its carapace for self defense. It's necessary when dealing with the numerous aerial predators found in this ecosystem. Although larval Coppellers do not develop their spikes, they end up growing them near their adulthood. One will probably never find a juvenile Spiny Coppeller in the wild.”
Louie's notes
- “This creature is best seared in a veggie bowl after the spines are removed.”
President’s notes
- “With these guys transporting cargo, I wont have to install any safety precautions.. they have built in armor!”
