The Icy Blowhog is a large airborne blowhog that blows icy air at nearby Pikmin and leaders to freeze them and the ground under them. They are immune to freezing but can be damaged by fire starters.

The Icy Blowhog is a species of aerial blowhog appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It undertook a massive change in build, now resembling the appearance of a Withering Blowhog instead of a Puffy Blowhog, but retaining the same color scheme. The Icy Blowhog has some additional features, mainly the addition of tiny ice crystals hanging over its chin, making it look like it has a stubby beard. Because of its chilly demeanor, it is only found in cold climates, away from fire and warm temperatures. The Icy Blowhog has also received some other changes correlating with its new appearance. Its health is on par with the weaker Withering Blowhog instead of the bulkier Puffy Blowhog. However, on some parts of its body, it's even bulkier than the Puffy Blowhog, since the ice covering its lower body reduces damage received in those areas by 75%. Its ice breath is also more potent, as instead of just freezing the ground, its ice spray causes the ground to become much more slippery, making navigation trickier. Because of this, Icy Blowhogs are highly hazardous in watery environments, as any they blow on will instantly freeze over. It often groups up with enemies such as the Hairy Bulborb and Water Dumple, which take full advantage of the captains slipping around. Despite the threat the Icy Blowhog holds in watery environments, especially to submerged Kelp Pikmin it can freeze and inadvertently suffocate to death, all Pikmin types can walk on the icy surface, and some puzzles require baiting an Icy Blowhog into freezing over parts of the water to allow passage.
Icy Blowhogs have several different strategies to take them down easily. They can be hooked by the Kelp Pikmin's long leaves and sniped from the air, hit with a fiery red syrup to temporarily reduce their ice spray to harmless white vapors, or simply bombarded by Alloy Pikmin. Alloy Pikmin have an immunity to ice and wind, rendering them completely immune to the Icy Blowhog's attacks. Overall, nothing much changed since its last appearance, just made more unique.
