Kelp Pikmin are a species of Pikmin appearing in Pikmin Evolution as either the second or third Pikmin type depending on if Wisp Pikmin are found first. As the name suggests, they are Pikmin best suited for aquatic environments, as they are incapable of drowning and can resist water-based attacks. They have turquoise bodies with emerald green eyes and lime green accents on their arms and legs, but the most notable aspect of their appearance is their very long leaves, resembling seaweed or kelp, hence the name. The seaweed acting as the leaves of these Pikmin are capable of growing light purple flowers to indicate maturity, and another notable aspect of their leaves is the fact they act as a fifth appendage. Like a tentacle, the leaf gives the Pikmin enhanced carrying strength, making them twice as strong as the average Pikmin. However, the leaf also allows them to link together with fellow Kelp Pikmin for several purposes such as forming temporary bridges across gaps to access other areas, ropes to pull down hard-to-reach objects and enemies, or tripwires to stun enemies that cross them. Their main weakness is having poor endurance; they are very susceptible to being flung farther than most types, with wind knocking them back twice as far as other types. Still, their reliability and unique uses make them a very versatile Pikmin to use and a must for general exploration.
