Attacks Eats Pikmin

Geegants in Pikmin X: Deep Freeze behave like a combination of both their Pikmin: Shadows of the Future and Pikmin: Guardian incarnations. They mostly appear in the Unfamiliar Valley as moderately-threatening enemies. It visibly burrows into the ground while on the prowl for food and will emerge when approached, followed by it hopping towards Pikmin to try and gobble them up. It can only be attacked if it is flipped over by a well-thrown Pikmin onto its back; when it gets back on its feet, it scatters the Pikmin away by burrowing into the ground for a moment before reemerging. If left alone, it will return underground.

Attacks Eats Pikmin

In Pikmin: Guardian, the Geegant burrows underground and never completely unearths itself until it is defeated. The Geegant only exposes its head from the ground to view its surroundings and its prey. Once it seizes an opportunity to attack, the Geegant will rush its foe at startling speeds and attempt to eat them. The Geegant serves as the boss of two caves: it is fought alone in one, and three are fought simultaneously in the other. Purple Pikmin and Orange Pikmin are recommended to battle the Geegant with.

Attacks Eats Pikmin

The Geegant returns in Pikmin: Interstellar Cryptid. It resembles its Pikmin X: Deep Freeze incarnation, being a bipedal, dinosaur-like creature similar in size to an adult Bulbmin. Likewise, it hunts by submerging itself in the soil, with only the front of its cranial armor exposed. When approached, it will hastily jump out of the earth and advance towards the squad in a series of small hops, attempting to eat the Pikmin. Throwing a Pikmin onto its back will flip it over like an Anode Beetle, leaving it open to attack.

Notes

Olimar's notes

It has a morphology similar to grub-dogs and breadbugs, so it has been suggested that they belong in the same order. However, the presence of frontal claws is mostly unheard of in both family groups, so it is usually thought to be either an ancient relative, as befits its primeval appearance, or outright unrelated. They prefer to submerge themselves in the dirt and lunge at passing vermin, catching them by surprise. Despite its intimidating appearance, the serrated, teeth-like rim of their jaws is merely used to grab onto and pick apart food; its gizzard performs most of the breaking down of its prey items.

Louie's notes

Rotisserie-cooked geegant is high in protein, but the shell must be removed before prepping or else it will weld itself onto the creature's own skin. Nobody wants that much keratin in their dishes (or any keratin, for that matter).

Bentley's notes

Its scaly, ancient look, combined with the small hops it takes as it advances to its prey, remind me of Solomon the Springy Snake. They were my childhood hero; I always loved watching their show! I think its focus on animals is what brought me to take up this profession of interplanetary exploration. At least a full quarter of my biological knowledge of creatures back at my home planet can be attributed to Solomon's teachings. Now that I think of it, it's kinda weird I'm praising a completely fictional character as if they were real and alive...

Eloise's notes

It has the right idea of using its shell to block out the sun, but I don't know how it vents heat from within. Then again, reptiles are cold-blooded, so I might just be thinking silly thoughts.

Attacks Eats Pikmin

The Geegant is a smaller member of the krukadon family appearing in Pikmin: Shadows of the Future, comparable in size to an adult Bulbmin. It has yellow skin, a thick brown hide, a large mouth, several sharp fangs, small eyes, two stubby arms that each end in a single large claw, a pair of backward-jointed legs which are protected by a defensive growth at the hip, three clawed toes on its feet, and a large tail. It hunts prey, such as Pikmin and leaders, by quickly hopping toward them and attempting to bite them. It can eat three Pikmin at once. To attack the Geegant, Pikmin must first be thrown onto its head to flip the creature over and force it to expose its vulnerable underside.
