The Gildemander is a returning species of amphibiland in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature resembles its original incarnation in Pikmin 4. The boss can be found in its arena, sleeping. If provoked to wake up, the Gildemander will awaken and attempt to slurp at the group. After the attack, the boss fight will begin.
The Gildemander is simple in attack, but its attacks are highly lethal. One of its attacks is slurping up Pikmin with its giant tongue. The attack has no limit on the amount of Pikmin it can eat at once, meaning all 100 can be eaten if not careful. Another attack of the Gildemander is slowly rolling to its side and dumping all of its gold onto a group of Pikmin, crushing them all. The Gildemander will then slurp up all of its gold to put on its back. The best way to attack the Gildemander is to charge the beast's side. If the Gildemander can not perform its rolling attack in time, all the Pikmin will do enough damage to the side to scatter the gold all over the arena. Weighted Pikmin and Purple Pikmin can easily knock the gold off. The Pikmin can then break each chunk so the Gildemander can not regain its armor. If done correctly, three glassy, red orbs will be revealed on its back if all gold is gone. This is where actual damage can be done to the boss. Iguana Pikmin can attack the orbs from afar, while Rock Pikmin do extra damage. For each third of health removed, one glass orb breaks. Once all orbs are broken, the creature will be defeated.

- “This strange creature seems to possess coagulated body fluids on its back. This condensed material seems to confuse the treasure gauge into thinking it is some sort of treasure. Along with this, the Gildemander possesses the ability to emit electromagnetic waves from its antenna which confuses Pikmin into thinking it is a leader, similar to an Antenna Beetle. However, the beast is not as smart as an Antenna Beetle, so they can not command the Pikmin, preferring to eat them instead.”
