The Widemouthed Anode Beetle is an electric ladybug-like enemy that patrols a set path in dimly-lit areas, where it casts a field of light. If Pikmin walk into this light, they creature will charge them and attempt to eat them. Widemouthed Anode Beetles can be defeated by continually throwing Pikmin at them until the flip over, which leaves them completely vulnerable to attack, much like the standard Anode Beetle.

Attacks | Eats Pikmin, stuns Pikmin with electricity |
In appearance, the Widemouthed Anode Beetle is visually similar to the Anode Beetle, except larger, with a more visible mouth. The Widemouthed Anode Beetle will patrol a small area and will attack any Pikmin that enter its field of light by blasting an area around its body with electricity and then eating any Pikmin who are stunned or close enough to be eaten. Like its small counterpart, the Widemouthed Anode Beetle must be flipped over to be damaged, however, it can only be flipped over with a Purple Pikmin landing directly on its back.
Olimar's Notes
- "This solitary member of the Scarab Beetle family has poor eyesight, and therefore acts aggressively at any perceived threats that come close to it."
Louie's Notes
- "Inedible, ingestion may lead to irritability, violent spasms, mood swings, and numbness of the face."
Battle Strategy
Bait it into doing its electrical attack, and then come in with a good-sized group of Purple Pikmin. Throw one of the Purple Pikmin at its back and then swarm it with the rest of the group.
