The Pyroclasmic Slooch is an enemy found in Pikmin 3, first seen at Nintendo's E3 2012 conference. It resembles a black slug-like creature with yellow rings of light pulsing down its body. It is somewhat cone-shaped with two small antennae at its tip. It cloaks itself in flames which will set any Pikmin species other than Red Pikmin on fire if they make contact with it. It moves slowly, leaving a trail of fire behind it that can further ignite Pikmin. Its face consists of two small eye stalks and a long gray-blue tongue, which the Slooch can lash out to snatch Pikmin from a medium range. It is only hurt by Red Pikmin, as they are immune to fire, but they can also be hurt by other Pikmin if it goes into the water. While a Rock Pikmin's initial thump can damage it, they will quickly catch on fire. When killed, their flaming bodies extinguish and shrink down to a smaller size.
The Pyroclasmic Slooch is a slug-like creature that leaves behind a dangerous trail of fire. They are black in appearance, with stripes of yellow looping around their body in a pattern resembling that of flowing lava. They have two antennae near the top of their cone-shaped bodies. The Pyroclasmic Slooch is also covered in a combustible slime which it leaves behind as it moves. When killed, the Slooch shrinks considerably and loses its bright red stripes. It will also cease to burn, allowing all types of Pikmin to carry it.

The Pyroclasmic Slooch will sometimes act as an hazard. By leaving trails of fire, it has the ability to block areas for non-Red Pikmin, which will only be accessible if they are defeated by Red Pikmin. It takes 3 Pikmin to carry and is worth 15 Pokos.
The Pyroclasmic Slooch's only threatening quality is its fire. It is weak and moves at a sluggish pace, and its tongue attack is relatively slow, predictable, and can get only a few Pikmin at a time. Red Pikmin and Pikmin like them are the only types of Pikmin that can be used to consistently damage it when it sports its coat of fire. If a Slooch is lead into water, however, it can easily be attacked by any type, as its flame goes out. It can, however, reignite upon touching another Pyroclasmic Slooch's trail of fire or another fire source, unlike the Fiery Bulblax which reignites autonomously. Though it is not too threatening when it is confronted directly, the Slooch's trail of fire can become a dangerous hazard for any non-Red Pikmin carrying items anywhere, as they will not attempt to avoid it. After being defeated, the creature's body will shrink and the trail of fire will linger behind it for a few seconds before fading.
