The Portal is an official DLC content pack for Pikmin: Antarctic Survival created by A Friendly Amprat. This pack primarily exists to provide a hub area which can be used to grant access to any number of new areas to be added to Pikmin: Antarctic Survival, taking the characters away from the Antarctic and into the wider universe and even other universes on new exploration adventures.

The Portal adds one new building to the game as well as one new area which can be traveled to after the new building is constructed. The new building is called "The Portal", hence the name of the DLC pack, and it is a structure resembling a large stone arch on a wide flat base. This building takes up one unit of space in the Diamond Settlement, and only a single instance of the building can be constructed. The building becomes unlocked once Phandy is recruited as a settlement resident, because Phandy wants to have the structure built in the hopes that they can use it to get back to their own dimension. Construction of the Portal requires twenty raw material and ten bricks of good quality, and requires fifty units of build time in order to complete. Once the Portal is complete, Phandy places a Supernatura crystal into the indentation through the top of the arch, which causes the structure to become powered. When powered, a thin wall of violet energy fills the structure's frame, with a color resembling a Purple Pikmin or anchored Waterwraith's body. This energy has dimensional and spatial properties similar to a wormhole. A creature that passes through the energy will be transported through spacetime into the expansion pack's new area, which is also known as "The Portal". Notably, larger creatures cannot fit through the building's arch, with any creatures that have a housing size of four or more being entirely unable to enter, and most creatures with a housing size of three also being too large, though some of them like Phandy themself are just barely able to fit through. This restriction means that only small to medium sized creatures are able to enter the Portal area and travel through it to other DLC areas accessed through it. At a later time, the building can be upgraded with advanced resources such as mametal for its structural stability and heavium for its gravitational and spacetime-warping properties, as well as more raw material and bricks to expand the arch's size and power, allowing larger creatures to fit through into the Portal area.

The nature of the portal building's gateway is such that living creatures that are Diamond Settlement residents are able to pass through it, but they are not able to transport objects and non-living material through. As a result, only the creatures themselves can pass through, and they must be able to survive with whatever supplies they can find on the other side. Any object that someone attempts to pass through the field of purple energy will just pass through it and fall out the other side of the arch, not traveling through the dimensional wormhole.

By traveling through the arch and into the Portal, creatures are able to access other areas that are not part of the Antarctic, as well as build new settlements in these areas, though they need to build them from the materials they find there since materials cannot be taken through the wormhole.

This Antarctic Survival DLC content pack is closely tied to the Parasite's "Sinister" Incursion content pack, which picks up where The Portal leaves off, after the Diamond Settlement residents have passed through the gateway structure.
