Exploration items
Exploration items are the most similar functionally to carried objects in main series Pikmin games. They are found during exploration missions, have a weight value which must be met or exceeded by explorers in order to lift the item and transport it, and must be transported back to a central location, in this case the Diamond Settlement, in order to be converted to a form that is beneficial.

When collected by being taken to the settlement, exploration items are converted into resource items. The amount of resource items that a single exploration item converts into depends on the resource and the item's size.

Resource items are stored at the Diamond Settlement, where they can be taken and spent as needed for buildings and other uses. Different resource items take up different amounts of storage space, with larger and more unwieldy resource items taking up more space. There is no limit to how much space in the Diamond Settlement can be taken by items, but there is a “safe limit” of storage based on certain buildings. If stored resources exceed this storage limit, items have a chance of being stolen overnight by nocturnal creatures.

Baubles
Baubles are very similar to the treasures of hp. They do not need to be transported in order to be collected, instead just needing to be harvested by Glammet, who is the only character who can extract Sparklium from baubles. Glammet only needs to touch a bauble in order to extract its Sparklium content, similar to the method of treasure collection in hp. Glammet's methods of Sparklium extraction are much less efficient than Olimar's in hp, so the amount of Sparklium he collects from each bauble is much lower than if it were collected using this more advanced technology. Typically, a bauble in Antarctic Survival is worth one tenth of its value in the main series Pikmin games.

Once a bauble is extracted of its Sparklium, it usually no longer has any use to the residents of the Diamond Settlement. At this point, it can be left where it was found, or it can be transported back to the Diamond Settlement for display purposes. Some baubles can be useful to the characters even after they no longer hold any Sparklium value, such as a battery treasure being used as a power source for a use where electric charge is needed.

Miscellaneous items are any of the items in Pikmin: Antarctic Survival that do not fit any of the above three categories. Not all of these items fit fully into these categories, as this group more broadly contains any item that does not fit into the other three groups.

Items are the collectibles of Pikmin: Antarctic Survival, which are found during exploration missions and collected or harvested. These items serve a similar function to the collectibles in other Pikmin games, such as pellets and treasures, which are carried by Pikmin and transported back to the Onions or ship. Items can be divided into four categories: exploration items, resource items, baubles, and miscellaneous items.

Exploration items

Exploration items are the most similar functionally to carried objects in the main series Pikmin games. They are found during exploration missions, have a weight value that must be met or exceeded by explorers in order to lift the item and transport it, and must be transported back to a central location, the Diamond Settlement specifically, to be converted to a beneficial form.

When collected by being taken to the settlement, exploration items are converted into resource items. The amount of resource items that a single exploration item converts into depends on the resource and the item's size.

Resource items

Resource items represent resources that have already been collected at the Diamond Settlement and are thus now usable, similar to Pokos, ultra-spicy spray progress, and raw material.

Baubles

Baubles are very similar to the treasures in Hey! Pikmin. They do not need to be transported in order to be collected, just harvested by Glammet, the only character who can extract Sparklium from baubles. Glammet only needs to touch a bauble to extract its Sparklium content, similar to the method of treasure collection in Hey! Pikmin. Glammet's methods of Sparklium extraction are much less efficient than Olimar's in Hey! Pikmin, so the amount of Sparklium he collects from each bauble is much lower than if it were collected using this more advanced technology. Typically, a bauble is worth one-tenth of its value in the main series Pikmin games.

Once a bauble's Sparklium is extracted, it usually no longer has any use to the residents of the Diamond Settlement. At this point, it can be left where it was found, or it can be transported back to the Diamond Settlement for display purposes. Some baubles can be useful to the characters even after they no longer hold any Sparklium value, such as a battery treasure being used as a power source for use where electric charge is needed.

Miscellaneous items

Miscellaneous items are any items that do not fit in any of the above three categories. These items are typically usable at any time while collected, not needing to be stored in the settlement or carried by an exploration group. Not all of these items fit fully into these categories, as this group more broadly contains any item that does not fit into the other three groups.
