The Spotstool is a somewhat uncommon sporovid appearing in Pikmin: Dual Worlds in the Salem Swamp area and some of its caves. It appears to be little more than a weak tripedal sporovid at first, but due to them all having nearly identical DNA and being incredibly malleable, three of them together can fuse into a larger version of themselves. At its smallest size, it can easily be defeated with a single Pikmin thrown on top of it. It's still weak to attacks from above at the next smallest size, though to a lesser extent. However, at the third and fourth sizes, it becomes immune to aerial attacks, solely destructible from the sizes. This happens to be where it's most dangerous, as if it happens across prey to its sides that happen to be beneath its cap, it crouches down and closes its cap on any attackers, allowing for them to be eaten. If attacked enough, it can be split back into its parts, though at sizes 3 or higher it will split into the size below it instead of directly into the smallest size. They can be summoned by the Swarmstool, though they don't spawn exclusively due to them.

The Spotstool is a sporovid miniboss appearing in Pikmin: Spark. Found in dens, they have a red cap featuring large, pale, fleshy lumps, giving them the appearance of a Kingcap. They appear to be quite clumsy creatures as they move in an awkward waddle and trip quite frequently, characteristics that belie so dangerous a predator. After getting up from tripping, it closes its large cap and traps anything inside for consumption. The creature has little vitality but is not easy to take down as it splits into three smaller versions of itself when damaged enough. These smaller Spotstools act as smaller and faster versions of the original Spotstool and also split into three even smaller Spotstools under the same conditions. Upon death, the smallest Spotstools either disintegrate completely or leave behind recoverable remains. The final one killed drops the Tangy Capsule, a container of garlic powder worth HP Sparklium icon.png × 200, is dropped.

In Ultra-Spicy Mode, after being split, Spotstools of the same size eventually merge into a full Spotstool if not split again soon enough. Two split Spotstools can merge if the third is split, forming a full-size Spotstool that splits into three smaller Spotstools, meaning its spoils may be harvested indefinitely.

Notes

Abel's medical journal

Its muscles are intriguing. The cells can combine to form more durable molecules.

You can create great bricks out of these. The material binds together and regenerates after getting damaged.
