It can open its mouth wide as well to make way for its elastic tongue, the tip of which is covered in [[crystal]], making it useful for [[Blunt force|crushing]] and eating [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]]. Its tongue remains in the open for a short time after being thrust out before retracting just as swiftly, knocking [[leader]]s and [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]] hit directly by the nodule a fair distance away.
