The '''Skitterwig''' is a [[Skitterling family|Skitterling]] that, unlike most others, does not hide whilst disguised as it's respective object, instead moving almost constantly. It rotates it's hairlike protection from side to side, moving forward and turning around to proceed in the other direction. Pikmin that touch it are brushed aside, acting in essence like a close range version of blowing Pikmin away with wind. It can be found on narrow ledges, moving along paths they deem sturdy. Any Pikmin that touch them are in danger of falling off the edge or edges of the narrow walkway it inhabits. It cannot be attacked by normal means, only killable by burning it, causing it to fall off of whatever ledge it lives on, or by being crushed, as it's needles are tough and nigh unbreakable.

The Skitterwig is a skitterling in Pikmin: Dual Worlds that, unlike most other members of its family, does not hide whilst disguised as its respective object, but moves almost constantly instead. It shakes its vibrant green bristles from side to side as it moves around. Its own body is hard to see through its hairlike bristles, though its bright red eyes are almost immediately perceptible among them. It crawls along narrow ledges and pathways it deems sturdy, using the strong, virtually indestructible bristles on its tail, held high above its head, as protection. When a Skitterwig reaches one end of its route, it turns around and continues on its way until reaching the opposite end to repeat the process. Pikmin and leaders that touch a Skitterwig are not directly harmed, but rather are pushed aside in the direction the bristles were moving at that moment, usually off of the insect's narrow territory, and sent plummeting down below. Skitterwigs can not be killed through conventional means, as only fire exposure, causing it to fall from its perch, or crushing it will kill it.
