Olimar lands back at Fallwood Forest the next day, hoping to find his friends and Louie. Olimar ventures forward and discovers the first cave of the game, the Tropical Trench. The S.S. Drake tells Olimar to go inside of it, as it senses something that will be of great use to them. Once Olimar goes in, the S.S. Drake sends Olimar an app that will give him tips throughout this cave. Olimar can then venture through the cave visiting its three sublevels. On the first sublevel, the app, which is called the Tutorial For Explorers-In-Training, or the T.F.E.I.T, tells Olimar that in order to go deeper into a cave, he first needs to find a hole that will let him fall to the next sublevel. The T.F.E.I.T. also tells Olimar that enemies will likely get in the way, so he'll need to be prepared for a fight. It then tells Olimar that there could also be treasure on each sublevel. It does mention, however, that unfortunately, there is currently no way for them to get the treasures out of the caves and into the main area. Olimar obliges and heads for the hole to Sublevel 2, fighting off the enemies that get in his way. Once he makes it to Sublevel 2, the T.F.E.I.T. notices that the hole to reach Sublevel 3 is right in front of them! Unfortunately, it seems to blocked by some kind of magic-like energy sphere. Olimar tries to walk through it, but is pushed back. The T.F.E.I.T. tells Olimar that it had seen this before.

Before the events of Pikmin 1, Drake flew the S.S. Drake through lower orbit as a test drive before he showed it to his grandson, Alph. While flying in lower orbit, Drake encountered some strange brown dust floating around in front of them. Drake tried to fly his ship through the dust, but was simply pushed back. The T.F.E.I.T. said that the dust wouldn't move until a certain condition was fulfilled and that it could list the condition of the dust for him. All the T.F.E.I.T said the condition was to say "Cucumber." And sure enough, when Drake said "Cucumber.", the dust cleared, and the S.S. Drake was able to fly through without incident.

"I can use this to grow more Pikmin." (Olimar)
"Yes, but the Rooted Onion is stuck in the ground, so it will be impossible to bring it outside of where we find it." (T.F.E.I.T.)
Olimar puts this knowledge to good use and grows 20 more Purple or Winged Pikmin, depending on your choice on Day 1. The dust clears, allowing Olimar to slip down into Sublevel 3 without a problem.
On Sublevel 3, Olimar encounters a peculiar sight: a cone-like object sticking out of the ground. Olimar heads towards it, thinking that it might be of some use to them. However, a giant stone falls from the ceiling of the cave! Olimar dodges the rock, only to be squished by another! All of Olimar's Pikmin panic and run away. A giant Pyroclasmic Slooch comes down from the ceiling and roars. It starts heading for Olimar! Suddenly, the Giant Slooch gets knocked back by something! Olimar looks and sees that it is a lone Red Pikmin, fighting off the Giant Slooch all by itself! Olimar quickly gets out from under the rock and whistles his Pikmin over to help the Red Pikmin.
"Push it to water!" (???)
"Who said that?" (Olimar)
"I did!" (???)
Olimar turns to see that it was the Red Pikmin talking.
"Y... you can talk?!" (Olimar)
"Yeah, so?" (???)
"Sorry, its just that I've never heard a Pikmin talk before." (Olimar)
"Apology accepted. Now, can you help me get this thing near those Geysers in the wall? (???)
"Sure!" (Olimar)
Together, the Red Pikmin and Olimar's combined strength (as well as Olimar's Pikmin) are able to set off the Geysers to cool down the Giant Slooch enough so that Olimar's Pikmin can attack it. Once they successfully defeat it, the Red Pikmin starts to introduce himself.
"I'm sorry, we haven't been properly introduced. My name is Budmin." (Budmin)

Pikmin: The Reawakening is a real-time strategy Pikmin fangame created by ZephwIng. Its story takes place a few days after the events of Pikmin 3.

Story

Early one morning on the surface of Hocotate, Captain Olimar, who was enjoying some nice toast at the time, receives a call from his friend and subordinate, Louie.

He utters, "Olimar... Help... Trapped... Want food... Need food..."

Olimar, knowing what is at stake, says goodbye to his family, grabs his toast to eat it on the way, and hurries to the main office of Hocotate Freight, an interplanetary delivery company. The President is in a call with the Mayor of Koppai when Olimar barges into the office.

"What do you want, Olimar?! I'm in a very important call right now!" (The President)

"I need my ship back so I can go back to PNF-404," (Olimar)

"Why?" (The President)

"Um... So I can collect more treasures just in case the company gets into debt again?" (Olimar)

"...BRILLIANT! How come I didn't think of that?! I think about 1,000,000 pokos worth should be enough for a while. Off you go, now! Go on, get me some money!" (The President)

"Yes, Mr. President..." (Olimar)

And so, Olimar sets out on his fourth quest to PNF-404 to rescue Louie and, reluctantly, save his company from possible crippling debt.

Soon after Olimar takes off, he sets the S.S. Dolphin to autopilot and calls his friend Alph, who is one of the three Koppaite explorers who had rescued him on a previous adventure to the same planet, along with Brittany and Captain Charlie.

"Hi, Olimar! What's up?" (Alph)

"I'm heading to PNF-404 to rescue Louie. He's been trapped there for days. Somebody had to do something, so I guess it had to be me..." (Olimar)

"Okay, me, Brittany, and Charlie are coming to help right now." (Alph)

"No. I have to do this on my own." (Olimar)

"Oh, shoot..." (Alph)

"What?" (Olimar)

"Well, that kinda stinks, because if you could just look out your side window for me real quick..." (Alph)

Olimar then looks out the window and sees the S.S. Drake flying right next to his ship. His eyes widen in shock.

"We're already here." (Alph)

"Hello, Captain Olimar." (Charlie)

"Hi, Olimar!" (Brittany)

"Gosh, you're.. all... here..." (Olimar)

"Just because Louie stole all of our food, doesn't mean we're going to leave him to die!" (Brittany)

"Yeah! We're going to find Louie if it's the last thing we do!" (Charlie)

"Oh... Thanks, guys. I guess if we're going to find Louie, we might as well do it together." (Olimar)

"Yeah!" (Charlie and Brittany)

"Uh, Captain?" (Alph)

"What, Alph?" (Charlie)

"There's a huge... thing heading straight for both of our ships." (Alph)

"Oh, that's fi - WAIT, WHAT?!" (Charlie)

All four explorers run directly for the windows. Alph is right, but no one can tell what it even is.

"BRACE FOR IMPACT!" (Olimar)

"DUCK AND COVER!" (Charlie)

"PANIC!" (Brittany)

"DO ALL THREE!" (Alph)

Olimar and Alph both try to move their respective ships out of the way of the giant object, but it's too late. Both ships crash head-on into the flying space projectile. And with that, all four of them are sent hurtling to the surface of PNF-404. Little did any of them know that this would be their biggest adventure yet...

Fallwood Forest

Day 1

Olimar wakes up in a strange area. He spins around, seeing lots of enormous tree stumps and logs scattered pretty much everywhere. He decides to name it Fallwood Forest, after how many fallen trees there are. He sees two glowing objects in the distance. Olimar, intrigued by the sight of it, walks towards it. It turns out that the glowing objects were actually Onions! Olimar is overjoyed at the sight of his old friends. However, the two Onions are separated by a wall. A ledge leads down to the Purple Onion, and another other leads down to the Winged Onion. At this point, he can choose which Pikmin species he wants to rediscover first. Once he chooses one, he will have to return later to discover the other type.

Olimar chooses a side and slides down the slope leading to the Onion there. Sensing a benevolent presence, the Onion Olimar chose ejects a single sprout. Olimar plucks it, rediscovering Purple Pikmin or Winged Pikmin! Olimar hugs the newborn Pikmin, and it hugs him right back! Olimar then notices some cracks in the wall that he can use to look at the Onion on the other side of the wall. He then notices that a ramp leads down in opposite directions from either Onion, blocked off by a paper bag on the Purple Pikmins' side and a bamboo gate on the Winged Pikmins' side. Olimar uses this opportunity to start making more Pikmin from a giant Female Sheargrub on the Purple Pikmins' side or nine Scornets on the Winged Pikmins' side. Both enemy types are harmless. Using these enemies, Olimar learns about the Purple Pikmins' stunning attack or the Winged Pikmins' aerial combat skills. The Pikmin carry the remains to their Onion, creating exactly nine more Pikmin of their type. Using these newly sprouted Pikmin, Olimar quickly flattens the obstacle blocking the way out, and slides down with all of his Pikmin.

Olimar notices an electric gate in the direction of the Onion he didn't choose after sliding away from the one he did choose.

"Hmm... If I could break that electric gate, maybe I could go back to get the other Onion I missed..." (Olimar)

Olimar continues forward and sees that the two paths separating the Onions converge into one path, but he still can't get to the other Onion. Olimar presses on, and discovers the S.S. Drake! Olimar is very happy because now he can blast into lower orbit so that he doesn't have to worry about the nocturnal creatures of this planet! He notices a circle of colorless crystals on the ground in a circular formation. Olimar also sees that the Onion he chose is flying over to him. It lands in the circle of crystals, and when it does, the crystals turn the color of the Onion!

"The color of the crystals must reflect the color of the Onion in the circle. Interesting!" (Olimar)

Olimar decides to call it a day, sends the Pikmin into their Onion, and blasts off. He momentary contemplates where his Koppaite friends could be, then goes to bed for the night.

Meanwhile...

Brittany wakes up in a different area. Not knowing what is going on or where she is, she presses forward. She sees a small shadow skulking in the corner. Getting closer, she sees that it is a Red Pikmin and Blue Pikmin, huddling together for warmth. Once they see Brittany, they are overjoyed and immediately jump up and hug her.

"Aww, I missed you guys too!" (Brittany)

Brittany goes forward with these two Pikmin, wondering where their Onions are.

"Wait... I think I see something..." (Brittany)

She finds the Blue Onion, but both Pikmin seem to be horrified by it.

"What's wrong, little guys?" (Brittany)

The Red Pikmin points behind the Blue Onion.

"Oh my gosh!" (Brittany)

Behind the Blue Onion is the Red Onion, but it's completely destroyed.

"Oh no... I'm so sorry..." (Brittany)

There are two Pikmin sprouts near the destroyed Red Onion, however. Brittany plucks both and gains two Red Pikmin. Two Blue Pikmin then come running out from behind a corner, and cower behind Brittany.

"Why are you scared?" (Brittany)

She then sees what looks to be a giant Bulblorb chasing after them.

"RUN!" (Brittany)

Brittany and the Pikmin run off, with the Bulborb in hot pursuit. Brittany and the 6 Pikmin she's found hide behind a corner.

"Phew! I think we lost it..." (Brittany)

Brittany then proceeds to turn around. Her eyes widen, the Pikmin all run away, and everything fades to black.

Day 2

The T.F.E.I.T said that it could show him the condition, just like it did for Drake all those years ago. The condition was...

"Sprout 20 Pikmin." (T.F.E.I.T.)

"But... there's no Onion to grow Pikmin with." (Olimar)

"Maybe... but my radar is showing a large object up ahead. Maybe it will help." (T.F.E.I.T.)

"Alright, I'll check it out." (Olimar)

Olimar puts his radar away and heads forward to see what the "large object" was. To his shock, it was an Onion! It was showing a rainbow of colors, similar to the ones in Pikmin 3. It's legs, however, were rooted into the ground, instead of resting upon the floor. Because of that, Olimar decides to call them Rooted Onions.
