Plot

Before the events of Pikmin 3, a close friend of Alph's grandfather is sent to scout for fruit to feed their starving planet, Koppai. The ship's name is the S.S. Nexus 1.

Dell returned from a foreign shopping trip to find out that Drake had been planning to send Dell to PNF-404.

When he got out of the cockpit to talk to drank and his oldest grandchild, Yorke.

"Dell! I hope you had a nice vacation to Giya. Im sure you found some nice cheese." Drake welcomed him. "I'm not sure you met my eldest grandson, Yorke?" Yorke waved his hand a little. "We have made a big discovery."

York pulled up a tablet. "found a far away planet! This planet is known as a blue star seen from giya called PNF-404. Nothing is known about it except that some mailman from hocotate crash landed on it" Yorke groaned. "Not much info, still"

"If we installed a SPERO into the Nexus, it would be much easier to collect the fruit...Yes!" Drake pulled out a spare SPERO and quickly stuck it to the S.S nexus. "Alright. Time to depart! Be safe out there!" Drake a Yorke watched the ship go up.

"Come in Dell. Over." Drake speaks through the ship's interstellar radio. "There should be a planet nearby. I would use the SPERO to analyze it." He recommended. "Sorry we had no time to explain. But just remember, Koppai is our home!"

Yorke came over the mic "It seems like the planet contains that oxygen stuff. The most poisonous gas of them all. Somehow the plants grow in that oxygen." Yorke was interested now.

As Dell scanned, the ship revealed that the planet had a food rank of A+! "Alright. Preparing to enter cosmic speed." Dell inserted the cosmic-drive key into the socket.

Just as he approached the planet, a force aside from gravity overtook his ship and sent it plummeting to the planet they named PNF-404.

"Ugh... What happened...?" Dell was thrown out of the cockpit, thankfully not suffering too much damage. "Oh, right. Well. I can't blame the ship." He got up to take a closer look at the skeletal hull. "Thank the stars it's only an empty energy tank and a few chipped wires." After wandering the forest of his Impact Site, he came across a strange, red clump with a flower on top. "What could THIS be?" The Onion jumped from the ground, sending him back, and ejected a single seed. After Dell plucked it from the ground, the Red Pikmin led him to a Pellet Posy. And after growing enough Pikmin, they were able to lift a sparklium-filled treasure. After a long first day of work, Dell took off into the far atmosphere, accompanied by the Onion.

I am shipwrecked on this planet! I discovered some creatures named Pikmin. They can be thrown with A, called with B, dismissed with X, and given orders with L and R stick. A voyage log was provided that explained everything.

Dell eventually goes on to discover a wide range of areas, treasures, and, of course, fruits. In the Volcanic Caves, Dell discovers Rock Pikmin, a series of fruit, and even the ship's Eternal Fuel Dynamo. He ends up in an industrial cavern, where he must dodge electric wires and eventually discovers Yellow Pikmin. The part he finds next is powering the whole area, and it is the Positron Generator. In Barren Lakes, Dell finds Blue Pikmin and Ice Pikmin, and the Bowsprit. He then finds the Gluon Drive in the Crystal Caves, the Chronos Reactor in the Iceblown Glacier, and White Pikmin and the Analog Computer in Fungi Forest. Dell also collects sparklium, 10,000 units of it, all within 41 days or less.

After discovering all six Pikmin types and using them, but mostly Glow Pikmin, to defeat the Titan Bulblax, which holds his cosmic-drive key, Dell can finally return to his planet, saving it from a food crisis!

He escapes feeling proud, but curious about what will happen to the Pikmin now. But he realizes too late that the cargo hold's door gave way and all of the fruit seeds and food fly out. Before he can turn around to save what he can, the S.S. Nexus enters warp speed, autopiloting him back to Koppai. All the fruits he worked so hard to gather are now lost in space, forever.

"Amazing! Truly amazing, Dell. I'm sure you have collected quite a lot of seeds. You can tell me the full story later, but for now, you must show me these said such strange seeds!" Drake exclaims.

"Um... That's the thing. The... cargo hold sort of... came off of the ship, so everything was lost in the flight home." Dell explained, a nervous smile on his face.

"I see. Well. Good thing we had an emergency plan. He pointed to his new ship, the S.S. Drake. "Dell, meet Alph, Brittany, and Charlie."

In reality, what happened to the seeds and juice is Dell's dark secret; he snuck into the cargo hold, drank all the juice, and accidentally opened the hatch, the seeds flying out. Though he voluntarily drank all the juice, he felt bad about losing the seeds. He only intended to drink the juice, not realizing that the seeds would take months to grow into a small tree.
