Plot

Before the events of Pikmin 3, a close friend of Alph's grandfather is sent to scout for fruit to feed their starving planet, Koppai. The ship's name is the S.S. Nexus 1.

"Come in Dell. Over." Drake speaks through the ship's interstellar radio. "There should be a planet nearby. I would use the SPERO to analyze it." He recommended.

As Dell scanned, the ship revealed that the planet had a food rank of A+! "Alright. Preparing to enter cosmic speed." Dell inserted the cosmic-drive key into the socket.

Just as he approached the planet, a force aside from gravity overtook his ship and sent it plummeting to the planet they named PNF-404.

"Ugh... What happened...?" Dell was thrown out of the cockpit, thankfully not suffering too much damage. "Oh, right. Well. I can't blame the ship." He got up to take a closer look at the skeletal hull. "Thank the stars it's only an empty energy tank and a few chipped wires." After wandering the forest of his Impact Site, he came across a strange, red clump with a flower on top. "What could THIS be?" The Onion jumped from the ground, sending him back, and ejected a single seed. After Dell plucked it from the ground, the Red Pikmin led him to a Pellet Posy. And after growing enough Pikmin, they were able to lift a sparklium-filled treasure. After a long first day of work, Dell took off into the far atmosphere, accompanied by the Onion.

Landing in the next area, volcanic caves, dell discovers Rock pikmin, discovers a series of fruit, and even finds the ship's eternal fuel dynamo. He ends up in industrial cavern, dodging electric wires, and discovering yellow pikmin. The part he finds in this area was actually giving the whole area power! The positron generator. In barren lakes, he finds blue and ice pikmin. And the bowsprit. In crystal caves, the gluon drive. In iceblown glacier, the chronos reactor. Fungi forest, white pikmin and the analog computer. The final area, He defeats the titan wraith whith the glow pikmin and retreives the final part, the cosmic drive key

Dell eventually goes on to discover a wide range of areas, treasures, and of course, fruits.

After discovering all six Pikmin types and using them to defeat the Titan Wraith, which holds his cosmic-drive key, Dell can finally return to his planet, saving it from a food crisis!

He escapes feeling proud, but curious about what will happen to the Pikmin now. But he realizes too late that the cargo hold's door gave way and all of the fruit seeds and food fly out. Before he can turn around to save what he can, the S.S. Nexus enters warp speed, autopiloting him back to Koppai. All the fruits he worked so hard to gather are now lost in space, forever.

"Amazing! Truly amazing, Dell. I'm sure you have collected quite a lot of seeds. You can tell me the full story later, but for now, you must show me these said such strange seeds!" Drake exclaims.

"Um... That's the thing. The... cargo hold sort of... came off of the ship, so everything was lost in the flight home." Dell explained, a nervous smile on his face.

"I see. Well. Good thing we had an emergency plan. He pointed to his new ship, the S.S. Drake. "Dell, meet Alph, Brittany, and Charlie."
