As this is a separate timeline from ''{{c|Pikmin 2}}'' and ''{{c|Pikmin 3}}'', the story takes place after ''Pikmin''. The difference is that [[Louie]] didn't eat the Golden Pikpik carrots, causing [[Captain Olimar]] to not return to the [[Pikmin Planet]]. The red, blue, and yellow Onions separate. The red Onion lands on a beach, and the Red Pikmin go out and find pellets. The next day, a rainstorm starts while Pikmin are taking pellets to the Onion. Only one Pikmin is lucky enough to take a red pellet to the Onion, but soon perishes. A shadowy figure goes and pours a strange red, white, and blue gooey substance into the Onion flower. Inside the Onion, the goo breaks up, and the white substance mixes with the workings of the Onion, and the red and blue each cover one Pikmin seed from the red pellet. The Pikmin sprout inside a room in the Onion. One Pikmin sprouts with knowledge of the Onion, then he pulls the other Pikmin. This triggers the tutorial.
