The Icy Cannon Beetle Larva is an enemy in Pikmin: Ultimate Doom created as an effect of the previous global breakdown. It looks much like other larval lithopods but is blue, has yellow eyes on either side of its snout, and lacks spikes on its back. The strange circular markings on its torso are also yellow. It is completely buried in snow at the start of the day, but its position is usually indicated by a lump of snow or some markings. When Pikmin or leaders come near, this creature emerges completely, crushing any Pikmin it happens to land on. It stays above ground for the rest of the day afterward, trudging around in the snow, and when leaders or Pikmin are nearby, it will suck in snow and blow out a big snowball towards them that crushes all but Ice Pikmin. The snowballs follow leaders, similar to a Decorated Cannon Beetle Larva's rocks, and grow in size as they roll.
Having Ice Pikmin handy and a small group of Purple Pikmin is wise. When a Purple Pikmin is thrown at the Icy Cannon Beetle Larva's burial spot, the creature will pop out completely and be stunned for a few seconds, and it deals a good amount of damage to the larva. If it emerges normally, however, have one leader swarm it with Ice Pikmin and keep all other Pikmin types away from it, with another leader. The Icy Cannon Beetle Larva has twice as much health as the Decorated Cannon Beetle Larva as well.
