The Fireworm is a member of the drenchworm family and the first major boss of Pikmin 4 (BallsAngus version). It is fought at Silver Lake. Although Cyan Pikmin can be used against the Fireworm, Red Pikmin are much more effective because of their higher attack power and fire resistance.
Being the first and easiest boss, the Fireworm is simple to defeat but can be somewhat challenging. Using Red Pikmin against it nullifies a third of the threats it poses, which are breathing fire, eating Pikmin, and, upon reaching quarter-health, spitting up exploding fireballs, which can kill even Red Pikmin. Its attacks should be dodged no matter the form due to due not yet possessing the Scorch Guard. The basic strategy against the Fireworm simply involves attacking its body. The expert strategy, which should be practiced only by those experienced, involves attacking the Fireworm's much more vulnerable head while the creature exhales fire, inflicting much more damage than attacking the body does. This strategy is made especially dangerous because of the creature's explosive fireballs but results in a swift victory in under a minute.
Notes
In-game entry
- “This species of drenchworm uses flammable substances to cover its skin, similar to the fiery bulblax. However, this creature not only has the ability to set its body on fire, but it can also shoot fire from its mouth. Due to its intense heat, it is advised that you approach it with extreme caution.”
