The Sub-Surface Construct is a sub-area in the Unfamiliar Valley that is not initially accessible; Moss Pikmin are needed to freeze the surface of a deep pool so that leaders and their Pikmin can enter a tunnel that leads to the sub-area. The entrance to the Sub-Surface Construct is also blocked by an electric gate. This sub-area is inside a buried industrial structure that contains obstacles such as conveyor belts and gas pipes. Some sections of this sub-area also consist of rusted corridors floating over a bottomless chasm, and Zipline Groinks are occasionally encountered clambering across the many cords and wires hanging above the playing field.
