Moss Pikmin are the requisite cold-resistant Pikmin type in Pikmin X: Deep Freeze. They are discovered in the Woods of Occlusion. Their bodies are covered in a fluffy teal moss that insulates them and prevents them from freezing solid when subjected to extremely cold temperatures.
In addition, Moss Pikmin have some icy properties of their own and are able to walk on the surface of water by temporarily freezing it when standing on it. However, they are limited to just the surface of the water and can not interact with objects that are totally submerged. Moss Pikmin also can not swim and will suffocate like any other Pikmin if subjected to a water attack.
When enough Moss Pikmin are latched onto an enemy, that enemy's attacks will be slowed down. However, Moss Pikmin themselves have a slower rate of damage output than other Pikmin. They are also highly vulnerable to fire and will burn twice as quickly compared to other types of Pikmin.
