The Deteriorating Styxshroom is a species of nozcap that serves as an obstacle, appearing in Pikmin 2... Again?. It resembles its relative, the Rejuvenating Styxshroom, a mushrooms with tubes on under its cap. However, the Deteriorating Styshroom's gray cap is flatter and wider with many dark blueish tubes, and its stem is lighter. It is the opposite of its cousin, releasing wither gas from its tubes continuously, preventing Pikmin from passing through. Lichen Pikmin are needed to destroy it, upon which its stem will shrivel into the ground and disappear along with its cap.
The Deteriorating Styxshroom is inspired by the Splash Walls from the Splatoon series.
