The Zipline Groink is a small shot-fish with hooked feet that allow it to climb along wires and conduits hanging above the ground. It will always wander along the path of these rails, never stopping except to gauge the position of its target when approached, where it will then charge up a powerful explosive shot aimed right for the target.

The shot-fish family consists of biomechanical fish-like creatures that often fire projectiles from a retractable, turret-like snout.

Members

Ballistic Groink

Ballistic Groink.jpg
Main article: Ballistic Groink

The Ballistic Groink is pink in color and has a pair of retractable turrets on the sides of its head, which rapidly fire quick spreads of bullets at its target. Between volleys of shots, it has to reload, forcing it to rest and become vulnerable to attack for a period of time.

Battering Groink

Main article: Battering Groink

The Battering Groink is large and has a metal shield in front of its body. Lacking a projectile attack entirely, this enemy attacks by charging and ramming into its target with its shield. Pikmin and leaders that get bashed by the shield are knocked away on impact, and can get crushed if they are shoved into a wall or other solid object.

Darkfreeze Groink

Main article: Darkfreeze Groink

The Darkfreeze Groink is a groink infused with Darkfreeze energy. It is very large, covered in metal armor, and moves on tank treads that allow it to crush Pikmin underneath, or freeze them by kicking up flurries of ice behind it. It shoots a burst of three slow-moving projectiles in a row; these projectiles home in on leaders and inflict heavy damage to whatever they hit. The projectiles can easily be kited and lured into the Darkfreeze Groink itself to shatter its armor and leave it vulnerable to attack.

Earthy Groink

Main article: Earthy Groink

The Earthy Groink is similar to the Gatling Groink, but it fires mud balls instead of explosives. The enemy's shield is also covered in a substance that is dangerous to Pikmin not immune to it.

Electro Groink

Main article: Electro Groink

The Electro Groink is green, and it easily makes its presence known as its footsteps are very noisy. Its triple-barreled cannon fires a spread of three small electric projectiles that burst into sparks on contact with a wall.

Enraged Groink

Main article: Enraged Groink

The Enraged Groink is armed with a flamethrower that allows it to spew a steady and devastating stream of fire while walking. It is easily angered and will quickly pursue targets from a great distance.

Fireflinger Groink

Main article: Fireflinger Groink

The Fireflinger Groink has a fiery appearance, stands in one place, and aims at targets from afar, lobbing huge, long-distance fireballs at Pikmin and leaders that wander into its territory. It is usually positioned out of reach of attack, never abandoning its perch.

Gargantuan Groink

Main article: Gargantuan Groink

The Gargantuan Groink is a much larger version of the Gatling Groink that wields several kinds of elemental attacks at once. It is covered in armor that only Purple Pikmin can break through, exposing its defenseless pink body to attack. When defeated, it explodes into fireworks and leaves nothing behind.

Gatling Groink

Main article: Gatling Groink

The Gatling Groink is an enemy that resembles a rotund goldfish with a windshield on its face that makes frontal attacks useless. It freely patrols a large territory and will pursue leaders and Pikmin in its sight, stopping to fire a cluster of explosive mortar shots when in range. When defeated, its body will slowly regenerate health and eventually revive itself if left uncollected.

Gauntlet Groink

Main article: Gauntlet Groink

The Gauntlet Groink has a spherical body, a single eye behind its windshield, and four pipes on its back that release steam. Its turret mouth can fire homing boulders, waves of water, or a powerful charged projectile that explodes on contact. It also has an additional pair of cannons on the sides of its head that shoot exploding fireballs extremely rapidly.

Groinkmin

Main article: Groinkmin

Groinkmin are a species of parasitic Pikmin that live inside Gatling Groinks.

Gunship Groink

Main article: Gunship Groink

The Gunship Groink has a pair of wings and is capable of flight. It bears dual cannons on the sides of its head, but it cannot aim on the wing and has to land first before it can attack.

Iron Groink

Main article: Iron Groink

The Iron Groink is unique because it shoots projectiles from the pipes on its back instead of from its mouth-turret. Occupying high vantage points, the Iron Groink spouts out chunks of metal shrapnel from the top of its head. The debris is only a harmless inconvenience and will not harm Pikmin; it can only scatter them around.

Oily Groink

Main article: Oily Groink

The Oily Groink is grey with a red windshield. Lacking any kind of ballistic projectile entirely, this enemy will instead spit globs of unlit lubricant at its targets, leaving slippery puddles on the ground.

Paladin Groink

Main article: Paladin Groink

The Paladin Groink is quite large and heavily armored; in addition to its shielded metal face, its skin is also durable enough to shrug off attacks from Pikmin. It will charge at Pikmin and leaders and can crush them by ramming them into walls. The force of impact will also cause rocks to fall and potentially crush more Pikmin. If tricked into ramming into a crystal, its armor can eventually be shattered.

Raging Groink

Main article: Raging Groink

Lemon-yellow color aside, the Raging Groink is almost identical to the Gatling Groink and attacks in much the same way. It is easily angered, however, and once it has reached half of its health, it will become furious and move and attack twice as fast as normal.

Ranged Groink

Main article: Ranged Groink

The Ranged Groink sits on top of a bed of crystal and will never wander. Its windshield is also made of crystal, and can be shattered by Rock Pikmin. It has a very wide range of sight and will begin to target leaders and Pikmin from a great distance, locking on from afar with a targeting laser before attempting to snipe them with a volley of extremely fast bullets.

Sniping Groink

Main article: Sniping Groink

The Sniping Groink is very similar to the Gatling Groink, but it shoots high-caliber bullets from its mouth-turret at a steady rate instead of mortars. Its aim is poor and the projectiles tend to become inaccurate at long ranges.

Zipline Groink

Main article: Zipline Groink

The Zipline Groink is a small shot-fish with hooked feet that allow it to climb along wires and conduits hanging above the ground. It will always wander along the path of these rails, never stopping except to gauge the position of its target when approached, where it will then charge up a powerful explosive shot aimed right for the target.
