Queen Candypop Buds are very unique Candypop Buds; they allow the player to gain up to 8 Pikmin if they throw a single one of any color in. The flower's spots alternate between red, blue, and yellow, thereby presenting the player with an opportunity, with correct timing, to choose between receiving either 8 more blue, red, or yellow Pikmin. Nine Pikmin pop out; however, one was the Pikmin the player originally threw in. The plant will wither after it is used. These flowers are found only in the specific sublevels of difficult caves, usually immediately before or after a particularly challenging boss battle. These areas are usually void of enemies, so they are sometimes referred to as 'rest stops'; they contain other such useful things as eggs and other types of Candypop Bud.

Queen Candypop Buds are far more common in Pikmin 2's Challenge Mode, mostly appearing where the player starts off with very few Pikmin, such as Breeding Ground, Hot House, and Hidden Garden.

Notes

Olimar's Notes

This specimen constantly changes colors. When Pikmin are thrown into it, it shoots out seeds that match the flower's coloration the moment the Pikmin landed inside of it. The number of seeds shot out is always greater than the number of Pikmin thrown in. It can be said that this is a completely baffling plant, and many mysteries remain over precisely what sort of relationship it has with the Pikmin. It would appear that the Pikmin gain all of the benefit from the relationship... Perhaps it is simply a different variety of Pikmin to begin with?

Louie's Notes

Eating this flower leads to spectacular, breathtaking indigestion.

These are more common and unlike other Candypops, these are useful in all parts of the game. The first time you find one you are given the option to change the leader's color. The next time you see one of these that option is gone and only pikmin under your control can be thrown into one of these.

Queen Candypop Buds return in Pikmin: Attack of the Breadbugs. The Queen Candypop Bud has an interesting counterpart: the King Candypop Bud. Like the Queen Candypop Bud acted before, it only changes to a certain color once Captain Olimar has that variety of Pikmin, excluding Bulbmin. It can change a total of two Pikmin of any color before wilting away. They reappear every fifteen days.
