The Bombroot Garden is the second cave in the Ice Blanket and the last mandatory cave in Pikmin 5: Apex Predator. There are 1,385 Pokos-worth of treasure here. Wild Orange Pikmin are also found here, are are required to get the Orange Onion found in the center of a circular garden filled entirely with Bashful Bombroots. As there are so many bomb roots and bomb rocks here, this is by far the best cave to harvest bomb materials. Additionally, the explosives allow for quick, no-risk kills of enemies as long as Orange Pikmin are present to carry corpses back to avoid the bombs. Because of this, if the player needs certain corpses or Pokos, the Bombroot Garden is a good spot to find them.

When the cave is first approached, a cutscene begins. Rhea is immensely exasperated upon seeing these Bombroots. She complains about how hazardous they are and how miserable this cave is going to be because of it. She wishes out loud that there was a method of handling them.

Sublevel 1

Upon landing on the first sublevel, the Bombroot Garden gives a warm welcome by immediately dropping a bomb rock in the starting area. The player must back into the far end of the hall they start in to avoid the explosion. As soon as the bomb blows up, Rhea will call and say "Seriously?!" in response to the bombs already causing trouble. The floor layout is a maze; to handle the floor, the player should separate all of the Pikmin in the corner. The falling bombs will all have trigger weights to drop ranging from zero to twelve Pikmin in weight. If the player has sprays to spare, they should spicy spray two Purple Pikmin and start running around with them, as they are heavy enough to cause the bombs to fall. If Purple Pikmin or ultra-spicy sprays are not available, take 12 White Pikmin and run around with them. Following the left wall until finding the Shake-a-Smile, then find the optimal path back to the starting area and set off all of the bombs there with the Pikmin. Afterward, return to the Shake-a-Smile, carry it back to base for P2 Poko icon.png × 180, and drop to the next sublevel.

Sublevel 2

The sublevel consists of three sections separated by two floating platforms, each connecting one section to the one next to it. Upon landing, the player starts on the leftmost section, and a cutscene begins where the screen pans to the absurd amount of enemies on the rightmost platform. Rhea will finally have a breakdown and recommend the player refuse to engage, or at least look for an easier solution than the bloodbath that would be required if fought normally. Upon taking the first floating platform to the middle, 20 Orange Pikmin are found planted in the ground. Pluck one, and a cutscene begins showing the Orange Pikmin. Rhea comments on how beautiful the creature is and that maybe the cave is not so bad. Immediately, a bomb drops. The player runs, the Pikmin stands there, and the bomb goes off. Rhea cries over how the innocent Pikmin was destroyed while smoke obscures the view. Eventually, the smoke fades to a molten shell, and the Orange Pikmin coming out of it. Rhea is happy that it is alive and concludes that Orange Pikmin must to be immune to explosions.

The initial strategy to take out the heavily populated rightmost platform is to leave the rest of the Pikmin in the middle and cross alone. The main issue will be the Bulbear and Dwarf Bulbears. Use any of the constantly fired explosives to eliminate them. Return to the central platform, get all of the Orange Pikmin, and return to the right side with them. Now that the Bulbear family is dead, grab the Time Marker wherever it was placed and take it back to the central base. None of the remaining enemies can hurt the Orange Pikmin, because they only have exploding attacks. Bring the treasure back to the landing site for P2 Poko icon.png × 180 and delve into the hole to the next sublevel.

Sublevel 3

This sublevel is a giant garden full of flowers and what resembles them. Upon landing, start looking for Breadbugs. Tread carefully, there are Creeping Chrysanthemums and Shearwigs about. Kill them as soon as possible, and wait for a Breadbug to come. Play tug-of-war with it and bring the beast back to base and kill it. If the Breadbug had the S.S. Peppermint, go to its nest and take it after the Breadbug dies. If not, rinse and repeat until the culprit is dead. Take the treasure back to the base and monitor it to make sure no nasty surprises show up. After gaining 40 Pokos from the treasure, hop to the next floor.

Sublevel 4

The sublevel is set up as a maze. Upon landing, retreat to a nearby dead-end section with no enemies and group the Pikmin there. Separate the Orange Pikmin from the rest of the squad and take them with. Isolate the Blowhogs and kill them, being careful about the water puddle nearby. Any Dirigibugs and Volatile Dweevils can be ignored, at least for now. After finding the treasure, start looking for the shortest path back to the starting area, as this is the path the Pikmin will take. Kill every blowhog on this path, and get the Orange Pikmin to carry the Mega Horn back to base. After earning 250 Pokos, jump to the next floor.

Sublevel 5

The sublevel is half-rest floor and half-regular sublevel. An exit geyser is here if the player needs to escape and get more Pikmin. One of the five Doodlebugs will contain the Spouse Alert. If White Pikmin are present, deploy them here to search the room and hit the Doodlebugs. Make sure to watch for the bomb rocks, and everything will be accounted for. If any Pikmin need nectar, destroy the gas pipes to access to some eggs without the risk of poison. After returning the treasure to the starting area for 120 Pokos, hop to the next floor.

Sublevel 6

The room is a long hallway with the player starting close to the end of one side. At the end of it, there are three bomb rocks the player or a Pikmin can carry. The hallway is on a grate over fire geysers, which cannot be disabled because of the grate. The main goal is to get three bombs across the hall to take down the wall without prematurely blowing up the bombs with the fire geyser. Use Orange Pikmin to carry the bombs, as there will be time to put out Pikmin on fire, but bomb deaths can't be prevented as they are instant. If the player unintentionally sets a bomb off on the geysers, another bomb rock will fall from above to try again. The geysers will start few and with more time between their eruptions, ending with the whole hall having fire geysers with only a small window to cross. After destroying the stone wall, a set of ramps will allow the player to access the fire geyser floor and the treasure. Take any Red Pikmin present and have them carry the treasure. If not enough Red Pikmin are available, have them disable the fire geysers, and then have a random group take the treasure back. After getting the Emperor Whistle for 75 Pokos, hop to the next floor!

Sublevel 7

Upon landing, there will be a short hall with an entrance on the east side. Blocking access to the other room is an ice gate and a giant crystal. If neither Rock Pikmin nor Ice Pikmin are not in the squad, the player will have to leave, get some, and repeat the cave up to this point. Otherwise, tear down both walls and start killing the enemies in the other room. One will randomly have the Joy Receptacle. Then, take it back to the start for 60 Pokos and hop to the next sublevel!

Sublevel 8

The sublevel layout is a circular arena that juts out to the east and west. West is the starting area, and east has the Courage Reactor and exit. In the middle are the enemies. Kill them as necessary to bring the reactor back for 280 Pokos, and hop to the final sublevel.

This is the final sublevel of Bombroot Garden. The sublevel is a circular arena with a familiar enemy in the middle. Take all non-Orange Pikmin and keep them tucked far away in a corner. Afterward, take the Orange Pikmin and approach the Man-at-Legs from the other side of the arena so that it will walk away from the idle Pikmin and toward its current targets. It moves and shoots faster than before and there is almost no cover to hide behind, but the Orange Pikmin are immune to the shots. Just make sure the captain is not hit by the bullets, and whittle down the Man-at-Legs' health. When its health reaches critical levels, it will sound a siren and look as if it is about to explode. Once the siren goes off, try to get the Man-at-Legs to the farthest side of the arena opposite the idle Pikmin, without risking the Orange Pikmin falling off if the Man-at-Legs shakes. Then, finish off the beast. As soon as its health is fully depleted, abandon the Orange Pikmin and run. The explosion is devastating enough to knock out the captain if they have been taking a beating throughout the cave. Once the Man-at-Legs explodes, return to where it was and the Pressure Equalizing Armor will have taken its place. Gather the strength of 20 Pikmin, and carry the treasure back to base. Not only will the player be 200 Pokos richer, but their suit will now make them immune to bomb damage. Go to the exit geyser and Bombroot Garden is done.
