Autummal Undergrowth is the second cave in the Windswept Wonderland in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It is a full-on tribute to the Twilight River in Pikmin 3, being based in a subterranean forest perpetually stuck in the autumn season. Light is attained by the forest through a sheet of strange, geode-like formations on the ceiling that glow like the sun. The boss of this cave happens to be a miniboss from the Twilight River as well, albeit larger.
How to reach
Near where the Improvised Snowball is located, there is a passageway blocked off by a few gas pipes. White Pikmin must be used to destroy these pipes. An electric gate is beyond it that Yellow Pikmin must destroy. The path leads to a plateau with a single Mamuta on it, and a tree stump with a curved slope pathway leading up to the cave's entrance on top of it.

It is still too snowy for the cave's true motif to show. The ceiling of this sublevel is made of a glass-like mineral, allowing for sunlight to seep in. The holly surrounding the playing field and small snowmen bring to mind the Distant Tundra. The ever-unreal Polypous Prowler lives near the center of the area, where a small pond with a tree stump in the center. This stump has the hole to the next sublevel in its center and must be reached via a raft. This introduces the squad to a gimmick that will be fully realized by Grimy Resevoir. Yellow Wollywogs, Male Sheargrubs, and Whiptongue Bulborbs are also found in this sublevel. The Explorer's Tomb is behind a barrier of Bristly Tackgrowths Rock Pikmin must destroy. The Mouse Loaf is out in the open, completely unguarded and ripe for the picking.

Exiting a small hollow at the base of the desiccated tree, the cavernous forest opens up. It isn't too large, but it feels much less claustrophobic compared to previous sublevels. The Empathetic Tucker is buried in the soil by its stem, so shallow that even a single Pikmin can instantly uproot it, though it requires three to carry. A pair of elevator blocks are also on this sublevel. One leader must stand on the lowered one while the other throws Pikmin onto the raised elevator to get them onto solid ground. The Reverbiating Monument is on this layer, guarded by some Shearwigs. On the ground floor are some Dwarf Orange Bulborbs, Desiccated Skitter Leaves, Suckerpunch Blowhogs, and the unique Amethyst Urophibian. This enemy is like other members of the boroloop family but uses poison as its hazard.
