The Sour Blowhog is a species of tusked blowhog appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It resembles a standard Tusked Blowhog but has a lime-green skin tone with a cyan-colored snout. Its eyes have a mustard yellow coloring to them, and overall appears to have a rather grumpy disposition, hence the creature's name. Another notable design element of the creature is the fact that it's covered in a thick brown sludge, indicating that it has acidic properties. When Pikmin touch the creature, they will run around, burning in pain as the acid slowly melts them away. Any attack to the creature also spreads the sludge, making the ground slower to walk on and slowly reducing the captain's health. This brown sludge spreads especially quickly when the Sour Blowhog charges, as that causes it to leave behind a trail of it. Consequently, the battlefield will be overall harder to navigate when this creature is around, and it must be cleaned, making it so that Germ Pikmin are the best type to fight this creature with. The Germ Pikmin are able to clean the sludge off the Sour Blowhog, revealing its bare hide and allowing all Pikmin types to attack it, making up for the Germ Pikmin's weak attack power. However, after a while, the Sour Blowhog will bury its head into the ground and add a new layer of corrosive mud to its body, requiring Germ Pikmin to remove it once again. The sludge it leaves behind doesn't disappear when it's defeated, meaning Germ Pikmin must clean that up too in order to make the environment safe again. Overall, the Sour Blowhog is quite an annoying foe to face and should be dealt with as soon as possible.

Notes

Ivy's journal

Tusked Blowhogs have a special sweat gland that allows them to burn off most parasites, which is also why they are also hairless, as that seems to have burned off any hair follicles as well. This sweat, while not dangerous by itself, seems to have an odd reaction when mixed with various minerals found in sand, as when combined, it forms a grade IV carcinogen that gives the blowhog a sickly green tint.

Leni's recipe book

Inedible, too pungent.

Marvin's strategy guide

Why so angry? Well, I would be angry if acidic mud was dumped on me, that stuff needs to be cleaned with proper equipment.
