The Rolling Rokaroka is a species of minerock appearing in Pikmin Evolution. They are medium-sized creatures with pale orange skin and four long spindly legs and no visible eyes. They are most commonly seen covered in a shell of small rocks ranging in colors from dull orange, to dark red and black, depending on where it's found. Steam is constantly released from its body, but is harmless to both Pikmin and other animals, instead acting as a way for the creature to dispel heat from the volcanic areas it makes its home. The Rolling Rokaroka, like most earth-dwelling animals, spends most of its time buried in the terrain, only coming out when disturbed. When inside the ground, the local temperature increases significantly, causing most enemies to become more hostile due to the intense heat or to simply burn up and die. A hotter temperature also means a loss of plant growth, preventing important plants like Hanging Cocoberiess and Sparklium pods from growing; as such, it is encouraged to defeat the Rokoroko to continue healthy cultivation of plant life.

The Rolling Rokaroka, as the name suggests, attacks primarily by rolling across the ground, homing in on the active captain specifically. If the Rokaroka reaches a place where it can't roll, it will unfurl itself and use its legs to pick up and eat any Pikmin in its way. Its rocky shell is a tricky obstacle to overcome, as not only does it make the Rokaroka impervious to most attacks, but the intense heat it radiates causes any Pikmin except Elixer Pikmin that touch it to burn up. Elixer Pikmin are the form of offense against the Rokoroka, as their ability to absorb heat and release it as an explosion causes the rock shell of the Rokoroka to shatter, leaving it unable to execute a rolling attack. This exposure also leaves the Rokaroka vulnerable to all Pikmin types, making it easier to take down. Another tactic is to lure the Rokaroka into a body of water, particularly ice-cold water, as not only will its rock shell be washed off, leaving it vulnerable to attacks by Kelp Pikmin, but also will cause small damage over time, leaving it frailer overall. If left alone, however, the Rokoroka will bury itself again and absorb the earth around itself, crushing any Pikmin that gets sucked in, before forming a new rock shell.

Notes

Ivy's journal

The minerock family is noted for its sensitivity to environmental factors, with the slightest change in average temperature causing catastrophic effects on its populations. It's as if the species is rapidly evolving in order to find success, and the Rolling Rokaroka seems to be their best offering. By wrapping itself in the local rocks and minerals, it has found a way to properly vent out the excess heat the minerock family often creates due to rapidly changing environmental factors. Due to this, the Rolling Rokaroka in particular has found massive success and is rapidly spreading across the world.

Leni's recipe book

Best stored flash frozen, then boiled inside a cast iron pot. Add your choice of spices (turmeric and cayenne pepper are my favorites for this dish) then shower with gravy.

Marvin's strategy guide

Cool this hothead with cold water to cause it to chill out. Alternatively, shatter its shell with an explosive blast, all to show how soft this trooper really is.
