The Phantomoth Phosbat is a large aerodentia that appears in Pikmin: New Frontiers. It bears some resemblance to the Vehemoth Phosbat, but it is slightly smaller in size with a pale blue-green hue to its skin and has white hair-like spines and blue bioluminescence. The ends of its wings have long, transparent fin-like structures. It appears as a boss in the cave, Forgotten Mine.

It flies around its dark arena, occasionally swooping down to gulp up Pikmin. This swooping attack also causes Pikmin and leaders beneath it to be knocked back. While in the dark, it’s completely invisible except for its red eyes, which can be seen just before it attacks. While in the dark, it can create up to three phantoms of itself, which copy its movements in a delayed and mirrored manner, but can do no actual harm. When it enters the light of the Common Glowcaps that dot its arena, the true Phatomoth Phosbat will be revealed while the phantoms fade away, allowing it to be targeted for attack. Yellow Pikmin are recommended to attack it while it's in the air. After sustaining enough damage, it will let out a Pikmin scattering screech.

There are three lightbulbs connected to electrodes in its area that can be lit up by Yellow Pikmin. Lighting up one or two causes its phantoms to disappear and it will become completely visible in the light. After damaging it while the lights are on, it will screech and cause all Pikmin to scatter, including the ones activating electrodes, thus turning the lights off. Managing to light up all three lights at once will cause it to fall to the ground in a dazed state where it can be swarmed with Pikimin for massive damage.
