The Musky Blowhog is a species of tusked blowhog appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It resembles a standard Tusked Blowhog but has a deep purple skin tone and a jet-black snout. It is also more repulsive in appearance, having a more unkempt build complete with pimples on its face and small black flies buzzing around it. These details indicate that this species of Tusked Blowhog has a rather putrid stench, hence its name. This putrid stench is so potent that, in the air, it acts as a potent poison to most small creatures. In the case of Pikmin, all Pikmin types can attack the Musky Blowhog while it is idle, but when it charges, it perspires so heavily that a thick magenta cloud of its own stench lingers in the air around it, causing most small creatures that breathe it in to take minor damage and run away in terror to escape the smell. When a Pikmin smells this stench, they will run around in terror and become poisoned, requiring captains to whistle them so they do not succumb to the toxics. The poison of the Musky Blowhog is unique in that rather than simply poison the Pikmin, it will also reverse the maturity stages of their flowers until they become leaves, where in that case they will die instantly. This makes the Musky Blowhog surprisingly dangerous as, on top of the standard dangers of a poison-based enemy, they also can cripple the squad by reverting them to their maturities. It's this fact that makes Roach Pikmin the best type to use against the creature, as they are immune to the unique poison. Facing a Musky Blowhog with a full squad of Roach Pikmin is similar to facing a normal Tusked Blowhog as aside from the unique poison it creates, it lacks other distinct battle tactics from its relative, making it quite simple to take down despite the new additions to the fight.

Notes

Ivy's journal

When Tusked Blowhogs enter mating season, they undergo a hormonal change. They develop a signature musk that attracts mates while keeping their future children safe from predators due to their stench dissuading them from eating them. Since Musky Blowhogs of both genders can be found alongside regular Tusked Blowhogs it is theorized that different populations of Tusked Blowhogs undergo this change in different seasons.

Inedible, but fragrant.

Marvin's strategy guide

This beast needs a bath, but we don't have the budget for that so gas masks work just as well.
