The Forest Valley is an area in Pikmin IV. Although a springtime garden when first seen, it changes gradually changes seasons in the following cycle: summer, autumn, winter, spring. This area is where Alph crashlands and Rock Pikmin are discovered. Additionally, the area boasts three caves. Fruits such as Sunseed Berries and Juicy Gaggles grow near the area's borders, and they take, respectively, five to eight days and two to four days to regrow once harvested. The fruits will not grow during winter. The area can be completed as early as the twelfth day.

Story

Olimar and Louie land here to track a signal coming from the southernmost region of the Forested Continent, known previously to humans as North America. They pinpoint it to an area densly covered in brush, and find a clearing just south of the signal. They work their way towards the signal, later found out to be Alph sending distress calls, finding Rock Pikmin in the process.

Layout

The area's layout greatly resembles that of the Forest of Hope's, having an open area and many corridors. The corridors connect three separate sections of the area: the first is a large, open field that has a ledge above a lake; the second is a circular clearing that has a small alcove and what appears to be markings indicative of a landing site; the third is a massive, circular arena in which the area's boss is fought, and present in it are depressions in the ground, as if something had stomped around there. The Forest Valley has much verticality to its landscape, bearing many slopes and cliffs. It has one major body of water and a few tree stumps, and the ground is mostly dried grass and dirt.

Sectors

The first half of the area has five fruits, the second having twelve.

First half

Landing site

A circular area with two exits, one blocked by a stone wall, the other a glass wall. One of its walls has depressions that leaders can be thrown into to escape. Searching for Rock Pikmin immediately after escaping is highly recommended.

Dirt beach

On the opposite side of the landing site's glass wall is a dirt beach adjacent to a lake. This is where the leaders will land after throwing one another out of the landing site. By the lake, there is a tree trunk that is slightly higher than Yellow Pikmin can be thrown, and on the other side of the lake, there is an island that has a Sunseed Berry bush growing on its edge.

Cliff edge

Above the dirt beach's lake is a grassy plateau that resembles where three Burrowing Snagrets are fought in the Forest of Hope. Where there once was a tree trunk is now a pathway to another of the area's sections.

Old landing site

This large, round clearing is reminiscent of where the Forest of Hope's sole Armored Cannon Beetle was fought. It bears marking indicative of a landing site, and a cave where the Radiation Canopy once laid. This cave, Tangled Garden, is accessed simply by walking over the hole leading to it, and can be exited using the water geyser within.

Grass arena

The grass in the center of this large clearing is flat, and some depressions in the dirt suggest the presence of a large beast.

Rock Pikmin cave

A cave that much resembles the one Rock Pikmin are discovered in the Garden of Hope, although with two exits, one towards the cliff edge, and the other to the Forest Valley's second half and blocked by an electric gate.

Second half

Summer Wetland

An area unto itself, Summer Wetland, which resembles the Distant Spring, has twelve fruits to collect, and two fruits sources to harvest from. It has an underwater cave in which a boss is fought.
