The Dandy Dandelion is a species of chrysanthemum appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It shares the same general design as the Creeping Chrysanthemum's Pikmin 4 incarnation, but its body is sky blue and, as the name suggests, has a pair of Dandelions as eyestalks, complete with leaves. However, unlike the other members of its species, the Dandy Dandelion also has a pair of Seeding Dandelions acting as arm-like appendages. It remains buried in the ground, only its eyestalks visible, only revealing itself and attacking when Pikmin or leaders get too close. Certain other stimuli can cause the creature to rise from the ground prematurely, such as when a Radio Beetle performs one of its signature calls, causing the Dandy Dandelion to rise up and almost dance to the beat the beetle is making, shaking its arms and making sounds reminiscent of maracas.
The Dandy Dandelion has attacking patterns similar to those of its fellow species, such as eating Pikmin with its long, sticky, tongue. However, the dandelions acting as its arms aren't for just show, as they hide its signature and deadly ability: when it shakes its arms, it inadvertently scatters spores in front of itself, and any Pikmin unlucky enough to be in the way will turn into hostile Puffmin. They will assist the Dandy Dandelion in battle by swarming captains, damaging them as well as preventing them from tossing any Pikmin until every Puffmin is shaken off. The Puffmin will also collect nearby corpses and refuse and feed them to the Dandy Dandelion, restoring its health proportional to the size of the corpse.
A top priority when fighting this creature is to remove its arms, as without them, the Dandy Dandelion can't produce or spread spores, and there are two ways of accomplishing this. The first and most obvious is to blow the seeds off, which can be done in a number of ways such as by activating a fan in front of the creature, or luring an aerial blowhog over and coaxing it into attacking. The other method is to wash the seeds off with water, typically by tossing a blue syrup. If getting rid of the seeds is too much of a hassle, the best course of action is to use the spore-immune Roach Pikmin to attack the creature, as without its spores, the Dandy Dandelion is as dangerous as a normal Creeping Chrysanthemum and therefore prone to the same strategies. Additionally, Roach Pikmin can remove the seeds with their wings alone. Overall, without knowing the proper techniques for defeating it, the Dandy Dandelion can prove to be one of the most dangerous enemies to face.
