The Coagull is a coastal flines appearing in Pikmin: The Continents. It lives in sea rock clusters up on cliffs, similar to real-world seagulls, which it resembles. They eat small aquatic creatures that swim up to the water's surface, and antagonize Sand Pikmin and Coastal Rock Pikmin for fun. They also eat Sanurtle eggs, and Cradweelers that wander about the coastal habitat. During mating season, Coagulls engage in a spinning courtship dance identical to the Forich's and similar to that of some birds-of-paradise with their partners.

Attacks Pecks Pikmin
Is that a grounded bird? I haven’t seen one of those before! – The ship, upon discovering the Coagull

The Coagull is a species of flines in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. They somewhat resemble seagulls in coloration, as they have a body and head covered in white feathers. They also have two white wings, but they don’t use them for flight. The Coagull has a sharp yellow beak, two scaly yellow feet with claws, and two eyes with white sclerae and black pupils.

Coagulls can be found hopping around their territory, chirping, or occasionally pecking the ground. Once they spot Pikmin, they will run up to them and attempt to peck at them. The Coagull can only peck one Pikmin at a time but can peck in succession quite quickly. Each peck has a small chance of killing the Pikmin but will typically just fling them away and deflower them. The Coagull can shake off Pikmin if they get too close by flapping their wings violently, which blows away Pikmin.

The Coagull is very easy to take out as it isn't very offensive and has little health. They don’t have any weaknesses or strengths, as they are a basic enemy. However, they cannot kill Rock Pikmin or Weighted Pikmin due to their resistance to blunt force. So, swarming the Coagull with those types is recommended, but other heavy-hitting Pikmin types can be used as well.

In Overlord mode, the Coagull’s peck attack will always kill Pikmin not resistant to it.

Notes

  • P3 Data file icon.png Data file #1: The Coagull’s peck isn’t devastating, but is still dangerous.

Olimar's notes

The Coagull is a species of avian that has lost the ability to use its wings, or in other words, they have a vestigial structure. The Coagull tends to feed off of the eggs of crustaceans and reptiles. Using their sharp beaks, they can easily break through the hard shell of the eggs and consume whatever’s inside. Coagulls are very greedy creatures, which leads to their detriment, as they’ve been observed to be putting their lives at risk just for an extra meal.

Louie's notes

Pluck feathers off of this bird. Slather in butter and seasoning before roasting this creature in a large metal tray. Add stuffing to the beast if you’d like to up the flavor. Coagulls have the most unique taste of all of the flines; they taste like gizzards.

President’s notes

These guys remind me of some annoying birds I’ve had to deal with on the Hocotate beach...

Overlord’s thoughts

These birds are a relative of the seagull, I’m pretty sure. And guess what? They’re just as annoying as seagulls too. They keep stealing my food.
