The Broodmother Bulblax is a species of grub-dog matriarch in Pikmin Evolution that has been infected by a sporovid family member's mold. It is the infected form of a fully-grown Empress Bulblax. It is turquoise in color and has a slightly more bloated body, with large masses of green mold having ruptured through portions of it. The Broodmother Bulblax has similar behaviors to the standard Empress Bulblax, birthing a constant onslaught of larvae and rolling left and right to crush anything attacking it under its immense weight. However, instead of ordinary Bulborb Larvae, the Broodmother Bulblax births Moldy Bulborb Larvae.

The hide of the Broodmother Bulblax is too thick and numb for most attacks to penetrate, so instead, Pikmin must target the clumps of mold protruding from its body, with either side having three clumps each. This is a perilous undertaking, considering the Bulblax's rolling attack. Luckily, a few nearby geysers provide a way of quickly transitioning from one side of the arena to the other, but getting to them in the first place can be made difficult by the battle's chaotic nature. The Broodmother is also dangerous in that its rolling attack will smear sticky mold onto the ground under it, complicating navigation, and Moldy Bulborb Larva it rolls over will produce a layer of toxic green mold. Failing to use Roach Pikmin to periodically clear the battlefield can easily result in a severe disadvantage against the beast and its offspring. Its flesh is too thick to be affected by acid, but exposing it to water such as that from a blue syrup will quickly wash away any mold on the ground and temporarily prevent it from spreading mold as it rolls.

Although already in the company of its innumerable offspring, the Broodmother has a secret partner: its mate, the Deposed Bulblax. These two, despite being zombies, seem to share some affection for one another and are always present in the same locations. If the Deposed Bulblax is defeated first, the Broodmother Bulblax will become enraged and gain new, more potent attacks. First and foremost, its larvae become faster and more ravenous, empowered by their mother's pure, unrestrained ferocity. The Broodmother Bulblax also will periodically clog the geysers needed to easily avoid its rolling attacks, necessitating clearing away the mold. As well, Toxcaps will fall from above when it rolls into a wall, acting as deadly reinforcements that are smart enough to temporarily bury themselves to avoid being crushed by its rolling. However, the Broodmother's deadliest attack is its ability to slam its head onto the ground, causing balls of gloom to fall, creating shockwaves upon landing and instantly killing even Roach Pikmin. These factors make an enraged Broodmother Bulblax one of the most dangerous creatures to face.

When defeated, the Broodmother Bulblax will drop a piece of refuse, often to compliment the refuse dropped by the Deposed Bulblax, emphasizing their bond. Overall, crowd control and regular maintenance of the battlefield make the Broodmother a tedious foe, but is worth the sweet taste of victory over the abomination that it is.
