Bonelies are bosses in Pikmin: The Insect Gourmet. They act like friendly allies, attempting to lead any leaders and Pikmin unknowingly into traps. Once a trap is set off, the Bonely will then attempt to eat all trapped Pikmin. Simply attacking a Bonley will reveal its vulnerable underside, and its health is low enough that 3 punches from any leader will kill it.
Possible traps include:
- A spot of digable dirt that contains a ring-like ingredient or trinket such as Chocolate Cushions. It will spring up when the dirt is stepped on, likely trapping Pikmin in the center.
- A pressure plate that causes a cage to fall from above.
- A location that contains a boss or particularly difficult enemy.
- Carnivorous Candypop Buds.
- A boulder mechanism, which crushes Pikmin.
