The Radio Beetle is a species of kettlebug that appears in Pikmin Evolution. It differs from the Antennae Beetle in a number of ways, mainly because it has a silver carapace compared to the black carapace of its fellow Kettebug, and it has shorter antennae which end in a cone-shaped apparatus. This indicates that this creature utilizes sound-based abilities during battle, and indeed it does. Like the Antennae Beetle the Radio Beetle lacks direct offensive capabilities, only being able to fling Pikmin great distances when it jumps, however it has several abilities to support enemies that makes it quite dangerous on its own. The main ability being its special ability to create a rhythmic pulse which causes those who listen to change their habits based on the beat. Specifically the Radio Beetle uses two different frequencies, a low pitch and high pitch. The low pitch causes Pikmin to slow down, making them run slower and attack less aggressively, however it also causes all burrowing enemies in the area to jump out due to the deep sound startling them, making the area more dangerous overall. What really becomes interesting is when the Radio Beetle performs a high pitch, during this time all enemies speed up greatly, sleeping enemies become awake, and Pikmin running in panic will run faster making them harder to reangle back. The speeded up enemies are particularly dangerous as some like the Boomburst Bulborb and Groovy Long Legs will gain new battle tactics when in a faster state, making them more difficult to take down. They are especially dangerous in raids as obviously speeding up attacking enemies is a very bad thing to happen during an offensive raid on a settlement, and considering how some enemies become more deadly when in the proximity of a Radio Beetle, that makes them all the more dangerous. Luckily as previously stated, Radio Beetles don't have direct offensive abilities, so a few strong attackers are all that are needed to defeat this creature, who then releases a sonic pulse to stun nearby enemies, almost making up for the annoyances this beetle originally put you through. Still due to how aggressive it makes some enemies, and the fact it can cripple your Pikmin with slowness, the Radio Beetle is definitely one of the most annoying enemies in the game.

Ivy's journal

Another species of Kettlebug has been found. The Kettlebug family is quite a rare a sight for me despite coming from the cavernous caves I call home, this may because the Kettlebug family prefers places with a high metal content. This species of insect seems to possess the ability to manipulate soundwaves; primarily mimicking the scream of a large animal. The trembling and bellowing sound can send our Pikmin into a panic and awake much larger animals; with the vibrations causing underground insects to dig up to look for food.

Fry this bug on a pan with olive oil, minced garlic, bell peppers, and parsley. The result is a crunchy, flavorful meal to not be missed.

Marvin's strategy guide

This giant bug keeps awakening larger animals and even increasing the speed of some of their movements! We must kill this pest before he ends up becoming a huge problem..

Attacks Alters the vision of leaders

The Radio Beetle is a species of kettlebug appearing in Pikmin: Spark. It has a vivid pink carapace with a glowing purple underbelly, giving it a gaudy appearance. Appearing in dens, they release signals that interrupt a captain's field of view. This can cause a multitude of negative effects, from altering the colors of nearby enemies, causing them to have irregular proportions, or warping the vision of leaders with a strange psychedelic field, and all of these effects become more and more pronounced with proximity to the kettlebug. Due to this, they can become annoying if not dealt with quickly, the best way is to stun it with a Purple Pikmin, as that will interrupt the signal, allowing clear vision. Fortunately, they only appear alone.
