The Moletar is a species of numbouse appearing in Pikmin Evolution and a close relative of the Spicy Moletar. It has a rotund build with a brown pelt, small but noticeable frontal fangs, and long black frontal claws, which it uses to dig its dens. The most notable element of the Moletar, however, is the large, pink, tube-shaped nose it has on its face, which it can contract and lengthen at will. Initially appearing as a clumsy rodent, the Moletar is often first seen sneezing out the excess sand and dirt it inhaled while excavating its den, which is reminiscent of the den of a Breadbug. This rather clumsy display would suggest it is not the ferocious, territorial rodent it truly is.

The Moletar hoards several turnip-like vegetables in its den and uses them as part of its offensive and defensive attacks. There are three turnips the Moletar uses when in combat: pink, yellow, and red. The pink turnip is the primary one the Moletar uses. It's too bitter to be edible, so instead of eating it, the Moletar launches the turnip out of its nose like a cannon, and when the turnip collides with the ground, it bursts into a cloud of poisonous gas that has the added effect of pushing any Pikmin in the radius back, including the Roach Pikmin immune to the poison. The Moletar uses a yellow turnip when it is swarmed. It is too hard to eat, so the Moletar instead uses it to hammer any Pikmin swarming it, crushing them. This attack is quite fast and hard to dodge, so it is best to only swarm it with Alloy Pikmin as they are immune to the crushing, but they should still watch out for the poison gas of the pink turnips. Finally, when facing heavy damage, the Moletar will grab a sweet red turnip to eat, restoring up to half of its total health. The Moletar is quite a resilient enemy, so the addition of the red turnip can make fighting it quite a hassle.

While mixing attacking it afar with Roach Pikmin and attacking it up close with Alloy Pikmin may be a viable strategy, the most effective one is to clog the nose of the Moletar. Since the Moletar needs to inhale air to activate its nasal cannon, inserting something into it can cause it great discomfort. The most effective way to clog the nose is to toss a cyan syrup into it as it inhales, as the ice inside will cause the Moletar massive sneezing issues, forcing it out of its den and revealing a soft belly to attack for extra damage. When killed, not only can its carcass be taken, but one of its turnips will suddenly pop out from its den. The turnip will be either bronze, silver, or gold, each having its own distinct weight, seed, and sparklium values. The gold turnip, in particular, is worth the same amount of sparklium as a small piece of refuse, so hunting the Moletar for its golden turnips may prove to be an unorthodox but worthwhile money-making scheme.
